Recap and Recording of Circe’s Poetry Reading 11/28/2020

Hello everyone,
I am putting the link to hear the recording from my reading last night.
I did give a shout-out to a few WordPress friends, who expressed interest in hearing it.:)
Click HERE to listen. You can download it or stream it on your browser.
There were about 25 people people, who sat on mushrooms or the ground and
I think everyone really enjoyed it. People comment in local chat, and from the comments they looked like they did:)
Here are a few pictures to give you an idea.  I hope you enjoy listening to what I do in Second Life!  I read a lot of my most recent poems but to carefully chosen music for each. Enjoy !!

    • Thanks so much Dale, and thank you for the pictures and your big part in my reading. If it weren’t for you changing the images in real time,it would be impossible to show them, with my 40 second latency. You are a gem!❤️🙏✨

  3. Just downloaded, listened up till ‘between 4 and 5 a.m.’, need to attend to something, before coming back to finish, but can’t help sharing my gratitude. The very same poems assume a different aura once given the voice, its self-assuredness, and the otherworldly music. The blend is binding for the soul. Fills the mind with images that I regret I can never draw, else I would have shared with you. The pictures it brings to life are all positive energy, deep emotions. Thanks so much for sharing, my friend. Adore you. Take care…:))

    • Ohh Sundaram! How could I have forgotten to shout out your name???, as you were the very first, who showed interest in wanting to hear my reading..Please forgive me 🌺
I hope you have had time to listen to the whole hour now..I know an hour, especially in this day and age, is a long time, but if you did listen, I hope it carried you along and before you realized it, it was over:) I love your observation about how the poems, “assume a different aura when heard in voice” I agree, I have been to many poetry readings, and a poet, reading his or her own verse, is always a more personal and deeper experience. I love that my poem with the chosen music caused images to your head..Oh that is truly wonderful and a big compliment, because it means, I was able to connect with you,via this reading.. 💐 About the music.. It takes me months to prepare a reading..and that is mostly because of the music..I need to listen to hundreds of pieces, to find the one, that “feels” this is IT. Sometimes, I can not find the music..so I must create it..But yes, the music is a very integral part of my writing poetry and my performing it too.. Adore you too..Please let me know which were your favorites after you hear it all.. Sweet Sudaram, you are another special soul WordPress and a good destiny, gifted me:) 🙏❤️🤗

      • First of all, I am so very sorry to be this late at replying. Life plays with you sometimes, and plucks you away from the things you enjoy the most. Anyways I’m here. I got myself of cup of tea, and headphones, and I listened. I listened without having to worry about a doorbell, an errand to run, a book to read, and a piece to finish. For this is early morning. And as I said, you took me far above the realm of reality… or probably that’s what reality is… coz it feels so real, intangible yet so real, invisible yet so real.
You voice is heavenly. Your choice of music is just perfect. And it feels you write poetry with a certain melody already floating in your mind. You just find the nearest in essence later on, and combine them to create this magic.
There was so much I loved, and I don’t have the specifics, the names and all… all that remains is an amazing feeling. Yet I’ll try to recount the moments that so spoke to my heart.
There was a piece where you said, “he tiptoes just like the music.” And in the background the piano notes tinkled. The effect was awesome. Another where you sang, “I feel blessed and sad.” Then you took an amazing pause, and came back stressing it, “So blessed. So sad.” Made something flutter in my heart. There was the piano music, that haunted one that so loved, and the accompanying poem. Loved listening to it again.
There were moments when I had to tap the space bar to just allow myself to contemplate, to let the words and their impact fill me up, before resuming. The pigeon feeder was awesome. There was a music change within that I loved.
I danced with your words in the spanish-english piece, whereas the heartfelt tribute in the next one made me well up.
        “A tidal wave” was intense.
“Creative Soulmates” was so lovely. “I forgive you” spoke to me, and taught me things. And the one in the end about demons and their cure could teach the whole world a thing or two about being human.
Some of them I had already read, but again they assumed a different cloak in your voice. I thoroughly enjoyed them. I would never like to miss a single one of them in the future. Always do share the recordings. I am collecting them. :)) Have a great day.

    • Please Sundaram you never have to apologize to me..I feel we are friends, poetic and transparent.:) Wow, I felt you at the reading,*and who knows? Maybe you will make an avatar and be present with us all live in that moment sometime. I adored your comments..Yes I see you really listened..🙏 you were there with us all..and your appreciation, your details that you remembered, that struck you, elated you, and pleased your senses, is the most wonderful feedback I could ever get..Truly!! I don’t think anyone ever did that before..so you are a first.and a first that let me know..how deeply you istened and connected with what I do. By the way, I will tell you something//, no one else in Second Life, gives readings of this kind. usually they are in voice, not on a stream and no music or images accompany the poetry. I am not saying this as in a bragging way..actually for many years the traditional poets we have there, looked down on my readings as just not serious.. too innovative, not “pure poetry” But you are right, all my life, I always heard the words as a melody, a rhythm, and when I began to do readings in my home before SecondLife..i would put on music behind that seemed to fit.. After I learned mastered the technology to do it on an internet stream. i carefully choose or wrote the music for each. The music to me is an essential part of the poetry, and yes, I deliver each poem, in sync with the piece that is playing.By this time, they have become one thing for me.This is my way of reciting poetry. I am thrilled that you vibrated so easily to this style. Thank you dear friend.. you invigorate and inspire me to do another reading soon. I have been terrible lately and barely do them anymore..although i am always asked to..I feel inspired by your comments and also other WordPress artists who have expressed they enjoyed the hour..Inshallah I will do one again..and if I can’t get you there in avatar form..I promise to send you the recording for “your collection” Awww you are collecting me..just that alone inspires me to be more prolific again!! Thank you dear friend and talented writer..even your comment was written so well! ❤️🙏🌺🤗

      • The comments too raise their standards when directed at a worthy person, I guess. You’re the first person to have made me interested in poetry. I love reading the moments you seem to create so effortlessly. And your novel way of recitation. Just wow. I have idea how puritanists go about it, not am I concerned. They never could reach me. You did. That’s all that matters. That’s tells me it’s probably the best way. Much more demanding, but rewarding, for both the reader and the listener. I can’t imagine myself ever sitting in a hall and listen to a recitation that’s not done in the way you do, and yet you tell me that’s not how it’s done. That’s a shame. For if that could resonate with someone like me who hasn’t ever read a book of poems, it has to be the way forward to popularise it. Poems are to be felt, and I felt them. I am ecstatic because I always wanted to enjoy poetry but never could. I see your hard work Karima, and I see your talent. And I’m proud of you. May you reach the heights you deserve. I’d like to be one applauding from the stands. Keep inspired.

    • Sundaram. you have given me the biggest compliment, to say to me, that you never really enjoyed poetry before and yet..I could reach you with my music and my poetry and that means so much to me. Poetry is emotion, and if the poet can make that emotional connection with his/her audience, or even one in the audience, she has done her job…You comment has given me a feeling of deep fulfillment and has inspired me to plan a new reading for 2021!! Thank you dearest friend and very admired writer!!🙏

    • Oh Diana, so glad you listened!! I mentioned you in my reply to Samreen..another poet who lost her father at an early age..and yet, our poetry, all of us, is much more positive than negative..I find that ironically uplifting.. As I enjoy your verse so much, your fresh look at everything, so I smiled when I read your positive reactions to hearing my poetry in my own voice. You are a treasure too..keep bringing your sunshine to this gray world! It’s so needed:) ❤️🤗🌈🙏

Thank you Karima.. For your very reply. I think there’s a misunderstanding on one of my comments on Ben’s earlier post… My dad has not passed… But no worries… It probably got miscommunicated when I was speaking to him about my father. My Dad stays in anther country so I had said I missed being around me after my marriage…
Once again thank you for your sweet comment my dear.. Looking forward to more poems being recited by you… This was an absolute pleasure!! ❤️💐🙏🤗💕💕

Oh Karima, firstly let me tell you I was so happy to hear you say Samreen 😀❤️ Thank you so much habeebity 🤗 Your voice, MashaAllah is so captivating, melodious and soothing that I can hear your beautiful poems just sitting closing my eyes for hours and hours. You are truly a blessed soul❤️ May Allah always keep you happy😊
Your words, ” Each gift comes to you for a while, it comes to you for once and it never comes again” I loved it so much. Loved your nature’s poem, piano one the one about your bedroom painting and so loved the poem you wrote for your father. Coincidentally, I was also almost the same age when I lost my father, your words brought me tears which I try to hold back even now whenever the word father crosses my mind, I can so feel you Karima❤️ And your words which I wrote above, so correlates with my father, he was a gift, a beautiful one from Allah for just a while and he ws gone to never come back again.
Keep sharing your beautiful thoughts Karima and to actually hear from you is a feather on a hat. ❤️🤗❤️

    • Habeebity Samreen, sorry I have taken so long to reply to your amazing comment..I am not even sure where to begin:)..I am always struck by your generosity of spirit, your transparency, and your ease in connecting with me and so many others. Right from the beginning I sensed your “specialness” your open willingness and kindness, yes, that’s an important one, kindness, with all who know you. and this is of course all of this, this part of your loving nature and deep insight is found in your beautiful verse, that I recognized, the very first time I read you….and this is not by chance. WOW! you too lost your father at a young age…and you know who else did? Diana,(Be Inspired) did too. So three girls, now women, now poets, who suffered the traumatic loss of their father before they were teens!
Interestingly, 3 women poets, not morose, more hopeful than full of angst, even though this is a death, we never totally recover from..I think at this age, we don’t really understand or think about death. We are all so full of life, and innocently, believe, that things will just stay, as they always have been. I am like you, and I bet quite a bit older than you. but if someone mentions my father, I run into someone who knew him and they say something like, “Oh, your dad would be so proud of you!” or “You look so much like your father.” I will still burst out into tears.
Another person, is Ben. He was older, but the loss of his father, as I understand, started him writing, keeping this blog. Is that not ironic !?
I feel you too, in every word and I too feel blessed our paths have crossed. Hugs you tight, Shokran gazeelan habeebity.. Alhamdulillah we are now on each other’s path!
and it is a mutual sharing of our lives, our words and thoughts and our beliefs that we both share❤️❤️❤️

AssalamuAlaikum Karima, am really sorry for replying so late, I was so overwhelmed reading your comments that I just didn’t know what to write, thought to respond to you in tranquility when my toddler will sleep but I too slept with him. You have written such beautiful words about me which I suppose am not even worthy of. Oh I didn’t know about Diana’s and Ben’s loss, it’s only when you hear about others that you find strength and power that you are not alone. I too feel so blessed and equally happy to connect with you. Karima, is there any way I can get in touch with you through email or something. Would be such a great pleasure. JazakAllah khair dearest one🤗❤️❤️❤️🤗
