The Voice in Your Ear

The Voice in Your Ear

I am the voice in your ear,
your avatar that knows you
inside and out
and you know me,
but perhaps….
you will never know me,
never touch my hand
brush my lips with yours –
and yet we know so much…
maybe more than people
we call our friends.
We have each other’s memories
and we save them as our own;
we have danced a thousand boleros
by the sea,
our avatars moving so gracefully
the music carrying us away:
on salted rhythmic tides,
is where we fell in love.

A pair of demi-virtual-gods,
we make beauty out of nothing,
building world after world.

We compliment what we both possess,
what God gave us when we were born
and I think I wear our tattoo like a birthmark;
I was meant to meet you;
I have no doubt you were meant to meet me.
We have lunch in the city,
the real traffic honking past our table
and I am your body-less date
sitting across from you in an empty chair,
my voice in your ear.
We munch and lunch on dumplings.
We laugh and we are as together as anyone
Maybe even more.
We convert into horses and gallop the cliffs,
Back in the virtual…we can do anything!
We both have the imagination,
the super-charged creativity,
God’s gift from the beginning.,
and it’s what has kept us together
these last nine years!
Riding the train, I am once again,
the voice in your ear,
not solid, but fluid and we laugh
at some old memory; I hold your hand
with words.. and I feel so blessed,
for all this time…

to be in your life and you in mine.

    • HI Ace..thank you for your great comment…I used the word “avatar” because I am an avatar..In the virtual world. Karima Hoisan is my avatar name, but for the last almost 14 years, I have carved out a full life as a poet, video maker, and just another resident on the virtual platform. I mentioned this in my About the Poet, where I also include a Real Life picture of me too with my Video partner, Natascha Randt:) Thank you for being so very supportive of what I do here. It means a lot:):)

  5. I really love the lines:
    “A pair of demi-virtual-gods,
we make beauty out of nothing,”
That describes it exactly, what you both are doing.

  7. My human thinks of me as a person, a being with a personality. Almost no-one I have talked to gets that. It’s lovely, and no surprise, to see that you get it, Karima (:

    • Thanks so much Seraphim, for your great comment. I was telling Natascha that I think it might be hard for people who are not used to being an avatar to relate…but of course you do:) I tried to paint an honest portrait from my point of view of a long term virtual friendship…On my profile..I say :”I’m Kari
      a soul-infused avatar
Sl is a world for me and not a game.:)
I guess that sums it up in a nutshell… I love what you say about how your human sees you..I think mine is very similar:) What a great comment!

    • Aww that has happened to me too Jeff..very annoying! Thank you for loving my attempt at a poetic virtual love letter to a long time friend…I think the concept is hard to accept for many, but for me, it has been such an amazing experience to know and work for so many years, with people I will never meet in the real world..

Ah, yes, indeed, it happens at times.

That is exactly what I loved about it – the language creation alongside the world creation. Beautiful and complimentary. ❤️ You’re always welcome, my dear friend. Always! 💕😊🙏❤️

Such a soul stirring poem, Karima. I have learnt so much about the virtual world through your poems that every word you write about it now makes perfect sense. Sometimes, these adventures are what make life so worth living for! Stay blessed dear and keep shining your light and heart with us❤️🤗👍🙏🌹😘🎁

    • Habeebity…you have made me very happy with this comment, and you are so empathetic, I know what you say is true…You feel what the virtual is all about, can be all about and yes allows us to have experiences, adventures as you say, that would never be possible in the real world…Bless you sweet poet for understanding the depth of where a poem like this is born…The experience to have an almost real friendship for 8 years, is in itself soul stirring…That you felt your soul stirred…well that’s a very high compliment…Hugss and thank you for saying everything you did Diana..🙏🤗❤️🌟🌸✨🌹

Beautifully penned down habeebity ❤️ You and your avatar are magical beings, I wonder how creatively and gracefully you handle your both sides. A different world going on inside you, perhaps it does in everybody’s mind but to actually carve and present it, is really commendable and only talented people like you can do that🤗❤️🤗

    • Smiles big!! Yes habeebity, in some ways, I really do have another life..During this time of Covid, it has been invaluable for my creativity. and also for not feeling alone, although I am alone, most of the time. My avatar and I are one hehe..I might dress a bit different in the virtual but I try to be true to myself.. and as I say on my profile..I am a soul-infused avatar..There really is a living breathing person inside who controls the keys. BIg hugs my dear friend from so far away distance wise..but so close in our thoughts and beliefs:)🙏❤️🤗 Be Blessed Allah ma3k UmAnzar Much love and the best of thoughts and prayers always for you and your family!

    • Thank you so much Joni and I think love is love..no matter in what dimension you find it. As I say on my avtar’s profile..”This is not a game but an alternative reality and I am soul infused.” Love can move swiftly and transition the real and the virtual with ease. Someday what is virtual might take it’s place as a “reality” too:)🤗❤️🌹🙏

You are right love is love so true. So much of our daily lives are virtual and that just continues to increase every year. I loved what you said on your profile. You are a truly interesting and very talented individual. Sending some of my beloved fairies to bring you a silk blanket made from our own silkworms and weaved by the fairies. They just need a slight opening in a window of your virtual space. When you hear what sounds like hummingbirds you will soon feel the gorgeous blanket being wrapped around you. Have an amazing day. ❤️🤗😘🦋love Joni
