Poet

night-birdde3

Poet

I lay down in soft meadows
counting the beats
of a hummingbird’s wings,
watching the clouds dance
to the song of spring robins
and distant thunder,
music that moves my
birth sign’s numbered soul.

Symphonies that a poet hears and knows…

I cry for falling leaves,
and smile at flowers
that yell at me in loud colors
as I tickle their heads,
walking through their random fields,
watching them bend and bow
in low breezes, until their smell
makes me sigh.

Poet’s tears born again and again to live and die.

Your pain hurts me like paper-cuts on baby- soft skin
Your joy sends me higher than you can reach or see

I open my mouth to say “Oh how I love it all “
and just let it take me,
until I lose the words,
my way, my reason.

A poet’s insane empathy for each emotional season.

When sensitive is not the word,
but flailing, falling,
freeing into feeling,
wild-eyed and open to Life
in it’s unjust beauty
its perfect cruelty,
its moaning patterns
of sweet compassion,
surprising on blind curves,
with death or love .

The poet’s flag of surrender, this vulnerable ascending dove.

My crystal skin can shatter and I bleed the words on paper…
My sobs fling themselves over the railing for a sunset’s flushing hue…

Oh! so far from the parlors
of recitals, tea and egos
where some wait for recognition
to impress and show they know it.
I stand apart ,
unknown,
just a madly blessed,
innately breathing poet.

Oh my, Karima, I’m so happy you posted this wonderful poem. “ The poet’s flag of surrender, this vulnerable ascending dove.
My crystal skin can shatter and I bleed the words on paper…
My sobs fling themselves over the railing for a sunset’s flushing hue…” I love every line of this poem, yet this one above captured me. You’ve created a poem that speaks to the soul, and captures the imagination while paying homage to the poet creatives that bare their souls though their pain and their joy. A masterpiece, my dear friend. ❤️🙏✨🌻🌹

    • Wow Jeff….a Masterpiece? I think you have never used that word yet in a comment. I am blown away..and really touched that this poem from so long ago..resonated so deeply with you. An interesting background on this was..I was entering the first scary times, of reciting
poetry in front of other poet’s in Second Life. I found out they already had a sort of club that formed way before me…and poets..if they are not supportive can be terribly competitive. ( a sad truth) This was a whole new world for me.. and it took me awhile to “prove ” myself..but in the end..I was finally accepted and gave readings for years and years. Plus as I did point out to David…I am pretty over -sensitive about things too..I am constantly protecting myself from too much information in the news..or I won’t sleep.. Thank you my dear friend for finding special worth in this one:) You are a treasure!❤️🌟🦋🤩

No, I’ve not used that word before today, and it fits perfectly with how I felt this poem. Ah, thank you for the background. I am very sensitive too, and totally understand that. Aww, thank you, Karima. You are always most welcome. Reading you is a joy. Your work always resonates in my heart. 🙏❤️✨🌻💫

    • You know Jeff, I am pretty sure that sensitivity…even ultra sensitivity..is one the most essential traits in being a poet…. Our sensitivity almost obligates us to write..because if we had no way to express it…well can you imagine? Keeping it all inside? Thank you dear poet..I always love our poetic exchanges:)❤️🤗🌹🌟

Karima, I simply can’t pick my favorite line…when I love every single word, the sighs, the cries & the joy…the depth, the flow, the imagery & the power of Poet is absolutely breathtaking…You wrote it originally on 22-02 & then reposted it in year 2022…I’m glad you’re resighting such precious gem…I had to recite it to myself to sense the intensity of your beautiful lines…you’re madly blessed, innately breathing poet…you do stand apart…there’s only you like You 💫

    • Navin, your comments are amazing … more amazing than my poems you are reviewing:):) I feel myself blushing even at times::) Thank you..thank you, is a weak response, but a sincere one. You make me feel very good about myself as a writer…I am always my harshest critic, the stingy one who it pains to see too much good in my own poetry. My friend and 3D build partner, Dale, smiles at the incredible amount of insecurity I haul around, about my ability to be a poet…For years, I always felt I was not a “real poet” Well , I do accept, today, that I am, but when I see a comment like yours, I always feel a bit undeserving. I’m madly blessed to have met you, my poetic friend…you help see my writing through less harsh and much more appreciative eyes.. Bless you Navin🙏

You’re so humble & kind, Karima…I’m tenderly smiling…adoring your words…my review is more amazing than your poems…haha, not in a million years, my dear friend…your “thank you” is more than enough…sincerity is embedded in you…so you don’t even need to say that…it’s truly my pleasure to read your beautiful poem…I’m glad you feel very good about yourself as a writer…but just so you know, you’re a great writer…an amazing real poet…there’s so much knowledge in your “I am always my harshest critic”…insecurity could be one reason…but sometimes a diamond doesn’t know its own beauty…you must not feel a bit undeserving…when you deserve even more…but I do understand…it’s a feeling…and I’m not trying to correct anything…I’m seeing from my eyes…and sensing & reflecting from my I…the feeling is mutual coz I too am madly blessed to have met you, my poetic friend…my request – pls don’t be harsh on you…I’m sure you’ll see even more shine in your own shiny eyes next time…after you’ve written your own lines…you’ll even feel it deep down…even when you’ve closed your eyes…Blessings to you as well, Karima ✨🙏💫

    • What a wonderful compliment, Kaushal…to find I can transport you to a “different world full of passion and rhythm” I just loved seeing that this morning.. Interesting, that you say “crafted” because with this poem, I had to work on it…quite a bit until I was happy it expressed what I wanted it to…Thank you dear friend..you, from the beginning, have always read me in a special way:) ❤️🤗🌹🌟

What a beautiful and descriptive piece Karima. Your images and phrases are so lovely and come alive when read out loud especially. It made me think what a beautiful song this would make. I love every line but these particularly touch me the way you relate to nature, where many of us poets, can relate.

Thank you dear poet for allowing my words to paint pictures in your head…I think this is one of the highest compliments you could give me..Big Hugs and much appreciation for your beautiful solidarity in poetry..🤗❤️🌹
