Snow Globe

Snow Globe

On apple cheek winds
your ice and chill wrapped in,
“I hope you enjoyed your day.”
I enjoyed it more when you were in it
when your voice went slo mo in my ear,
when we were friends and didn’t feel
you felt, it was time to run away.
Charging off to nowhere, I see what I did
but too late to change that date.
What was so exciting, so promising
freezing on the vine of “See you later”
and later became much later
and one day it froze in place.

I have some poems from that time
so it was not a total waste,
but inside your snow globe
it never snows
there is no one to pick it up
and gently turn it over…
to watch the flakes fall on that scene
we both tried to create.
Whatever we imagined in our dreams,
a longer twisting road, or seriously, a kinder fate
is now lost inside your desk drawer…
a boring piece of yesterday
this snow globe paper weight.

The “boring piece of yesterday” made for a very interesting poem, Karima!

The Snow globe as a symbol of “happy days” which are now frozen in time and forgotten is also very alluring.

It amazes me how “a boring piece of yesterday this snow globe paper weight” sounds so wonderful…I don’t know why but I feel there’s a feeling of regret in you as if something has all of a sudden changed…perhaps not regret but something which is a bit uncomfortable…but I could be wrong coz it’s just what I sense…I love the flow…of snow globe…keep glowing, Karima ✨❤️💫

    • Dearest Navin, thank you so much for this thoughtful comment…You are a very perceptive person, and of course you are right…Whenever in our lives we see creative, loving potential, it feels like a failure when our hopes are not realized..but Life is like that sometimes, and I have learned to accept it all..as it comes.. Thank you so much for your comment…it means a lot🙏🌹

You’re very welcome, dearest Karima…there’s knowing in your beautiful words…”learned to accept or all…as it come”…very true…surrendering, accepting & embracing every moment could be crazy tough…but it’s definitely not impossible…it all depends on the fine tuning of ourselves ✨🙏❤️💫

    • Dearest Navin, I like your expression,”crazy tough”because it perfectly describes the effort at times needed to really be able to do what we know in our hearts must be done..Between the knowing and the doing of something, that will be ultimately good for us, is a gap that takes time to close. Pure surrender is not only a great strength, it is a state that needs awareness and work to achieve.. It seems almost contradictory that in order to let go..we must make the effort to learn how..which takes “crazy tough inner work at times to achieve:)

Memories may freeze or not, but a simple trigger may make them alive. A touching poem, Karima. The twist in the end is awesome.💐💖🙏

What a wonderful and sad way to visit regretful memories. I can picture the globe sitting alone untouched gathering dust. Kind of a symbol for an old, broken heart. Untouched, gathering dust.

How gorgeously painful, dear Karima. “Whatever we imagined in our dreams,
a longer twisting road, or seriously, a kinder fate
is now lost inside your desk drawer…
    a boring piece of yesterday
this snow globe paper weight.” It is interesting to ponder and contemplate how our mind stores the memories and then how, at times, in time, we choose to re-examine them, to, sometimes, relive them. I think poets live in this land, as we work through the emotions that arise in our memories, emotions drifting in and out, kind of like the snow in the snow globe. Love this piece, Karima. 🙏🌹🌺✨❤️💕

    • Wow Jeff!! I love your comment…and I agree with you…this is the well of poetry we take from…re-examining our lives, we come to different conclusions, reach different perspectives and being poets…we can convey what we see through our poetry.. Yes like th gentle snow flakes our memories drift and a very important part…for it to snow in a snow globe….someone must pick it up again:):) Really inspiring comment Jeff…thank you so much🙏❤️🌹❣️
