An Ode to Helium Balloons

While the music rides on the air’s highway
circling the room with beat and chant,
the subtle, invisible puffs of wind touch your skin
and push you around hypnotically.

You are so sensitive… defying gravity, and yet
there are times you dip down, just because you know how
against logic and currents…
just for a second you pirouette on the breeze,
waist height then rising up to the top, you turn round and round, balancing on the fingertips of the invisible hand on the ceiling that twirls you perfectly in a slow minuet…

Inanimate… gloriously you glide…thrilling the children who follow your moves enthralled and chasing your tail, but letting you freely pass through the room, round and round they begin to spin below you…catching your joyful grace, so contagiously filling the room with movement and light/… Now we all can see the invisible breeze made visible… Now everyone can dance with the wind.

It’s wonderful how you find poetry, and marvelous things, everywhere.

I remember playing with helium balloons that were right in that barely-floating state. Magical indeed!

    • Aww thank you Dale….well poetry IS everywhere..I’m just lucky to realize that and see it around me. Oh yes…when they(balloons) float around eye level and then suddenly a gust lifts them up over your head… How wonderful to be lighter than air…!! Thank you for your wonderful comment…

ah, my favorite gift & delight also! helium balloons!🤗🎉🎈they make me smile! i love the way the air elementals play with them, sending them mostly on the air current freeways, but with occasional unexpected turns onto the local byways😎❤️thanks for the video of balloon with cat, another favorite👍🏼❤️🙏🏼

You are a real poet, Karima! How can you think of writing a poetry on helium balloons? But your imaginative eyes and heart could catch what others cannot. Video with kitties is equally awesome. It’s always a pleasure to read your poems. 😊💐💖🙏

I love this piece and the audio was great too. There is a real beauty to the way a balloon moves around the space it is in, it can not completely be contained. It has a mind of its own. I love the kitty swiping and turning it’s head slightly as if puzzled by the visitor. A lovely way to look at a balloon and how incredibly creative my friend. Sending big hugs and lots of love. Have a week ahead filled with light my friend. Joni xooxoxoxoxo

    • Oh Joni..I had hoped your inner child would enjoy this new balloon post… and she Did!!
I recommend to everyone that they bring one home and just see what it adds to their lives… They are little “alien” visitors.. who cavort on the wind… next best thing to fairies:) which are so much harder to find as we get older:) Big Hugs and bless your creative mind too..always.. have a wonderful week ahead…much love and light to you sweet Joni… Karima ❤️🤗🎈🦋

How fun this is, Karima. A perfect ode to a balloon. There were also some hints in there for me of how the ballon mirrors our own movement and behavior. How fun! I also enjoyed watching your kitty play with the string. Wishing you a lovely coming week, my dear friend! 🎈🎈❤️🌹🤗🦋
