Video of My Poetry Reading @ Opensim Fest

Proud to offer you the chance to Hear & See my Poetry Performance for today,
July 8th, opening day of The 2022 Opensim Fest.
Thanks to Mike McHugh capturing what went on, I actually have the visuals as well as the stream.
My avatar (me) is not really in sync with my words, but I think you will agree I stay true to my mysterious appearance, with my odd gestures and random face movements:) Thanks to Dale Innis, I move at all:)
Get comfy and let me relax and entertain you for the next 55 minutes.
Enjoy!!

I’m so glad this was taken! Having been called away at literally the last minute by an RL emergency, I got to listen to only a few minutes live (and it was beautiful!), and it’s great to be able to see it this way. Looks like it was an amazing time!

I am so happy that I was able to see this. It was absolutely wonderful. I loved hearing your voice, thinking of you being inspired by Jan Betts, and hearing many of my favorites and new ones too! Such talent! Much love and awe for you, my friend.

Karima this was so beautifully done. I loved all the artwork you chose and the music as well. All of your poems sounded so lovely and it’s really hard to pick a favorite because they all speak to me. I would have to choose the last one as my favorite. Your voice and the stage were phenomenal. You should be very proud of this work Karima. You are a beautiful woman and you have created a beautiful thing. What an honor to be there amongst so many others that appreciate what you do, and the work that is required to do it. I am sending you love, hugs, congratulations all at the same time. Love Joni

    • Oh Joni! Your comment took my breath away..Thank you dear Joni, for watching my whole video and leaving me your impressions; it means the world to me that you did. I don’t even know what to say, about how your words made me feel, but you fill me with confidence, and inspiration and crazy creative energy to keep doing what I do..honing my craft as a performer of poetry, and believing in myself, that people find it enjoyable. ❤️
The last poem, Whale Song has always been hard for me to do, as it is such a sensitive sad and at the same time true story, still in our day and age. I used to break down at the end and found it difficult to finish. I put it away for years, and decided to try it again for this Festival. I was able to get through it, even though at one point I wasn’t sure..but soldiered on, as they say,…the music is sooo evocative…Just hearing it, can make me cry. Hugs you and sends my love, respect, and gratitude back to you.🤗🌹❤️ Karima

I just told you the truth my beautiful friend. Your work is so fascinating to me. Each poem was read so perfectly and your voice has such a wonderful hypnotic sound that you mesmerize people as soon as you begin. Each poem was paired with music and art that just balanced everything out. They were blessed to have you. Also I liked the way you left just a bit early to give the next space in a timely manner. That was very kind of you. Sending love, hugs, respect and appreciation to you. Proud to call you a friend. 🦋❤️🤗💐

    • Awwww J. I hope you felt like you were there, plopped in a comfy bean bag chair. Your feelings and enjoyment make me sing:):) And oh yes..I had to step into that crazy painting and go with the flow…Alhamdulillah it turned out just fine…whew:):) Many there had never heard me, I was on after two great singers that had everyone dancing, but they seemed to enjoy it and that made me so happy. Thank you for taking the time to see what your Goth girl avatar friend does in her other world. Priceless for me, to be able to let you walk in and be with me for that hour. ❤️🤗🌹🦋🙏

wow so impressive Karima … I’ve never seen anything like this! The huge effort for those visuals, the animation, music and reading, wow wow wow

Your poems are so real and so deep, you read with great expression in your voice. Loved them all but being a whale freak the last touched me most! Might inspire me to write a poem about my encounters with these gentle intelligent giants 🙂

thanks heaps, have passed this link onto others I know will be interested in your complete art package, kudos.

    • Oh Kate..wow you blew me away!! Thank you so much for leaving this beautiful comment. Yes, for people who have not had much experience, with virtual worlds, it really is amazing what can be done, especially creatively. I have been in almost 15 years and I still marvel too at what is possible. This whole festival is a giant teamwork example of making a dream come-true. My stage and set and even animations were made possible because of my collaboration with Dale. Oh yes the whales migrate here too in winter, and I am a super fan and always have been, Thank you for sharing this link to others you think might enjoy watching a virtual poetry reading..Karima style:):) ❤️

Work prevented my avi presence, but I was able to listen to the live stream and it was AWESOME! Loved how frisky you were with the SWAMP, lol. I was also surprised that I don’t ever recall the one about the Whales written in 2009, but agrees that your perception of whales singing in the music is right on (smiles). It was a lovely concert… thanks for being you, Sissy-Poo ((hugs))

Yes you can fast forward it by dragging the pointer that marks the place you are, forward..maybe making it full screen for that is easier although the quality is so much better a bit smaller. I so appreciate you watching and leaving this wonderful comment ❤️

Absolutely gorgeous, Karima. Listening to you read your poetry is always a magical experience, and hearing you speak portions of your poetry in Spanish was so amazing. I think that was a first for me, and I loved it. I will be back to listen to more throughout the week. ❤️✨🌹🤗

  16. Thank you so much Jeff, for saying this:) I’m so happy you enjoyed what you heard. Performing in a virtual world is complicated, but rewarding. I have been doing it in Second Life for 14 years, but this was my first time on the platform of Opensim, which gave us many challenges to work around…So glad you think it we pulled it off. Oh yes, I do sometimes perform my Spanglish poems…The one you heard, absolutely had to be in Spanish too, as it was a Spanish memory. Someone said to me, in the audience, that I am a storyteller in verse. I never thought of it that way..but I can now see what he means. Not all poems are snapshots from my life….but many are:) Thank you again for taking the time to listen and when you hear the rest, I hope you will find them as enjoyable:)🤗🙏🦋❤️
