Announcing my Poem, “This Beholder”on Spillwords.com

This-Beholder-spillwords

Hi everyone,
my poem This Beholder is up on Spillwords this morning.

This Beholder
for UmAhmad
Beauty is in the eye of this beholder.
Down the street, the people stare right through you,
some just capture what they want to see.
Imaging changes with the hours.
At noon,
a poor hungry war-widow wears your face.
At 5pm,
there is a tired maid slushing home from floor scrubbing;
she moves in your body like a wet, weighted, rug….

    Huge congratulations, dear Karima!!! What a treat to read you this morning! I absolutely love this line “a tangled past,
    a tangible future,” – it describes your piece as a whole in such a heart-touching way. I love the way you tied everything together at the end and added such love throughout. Another masterpiece, my friend. So happy your work is being recognized, many more amazing things to come your way 🤍🤗

    • Oh it does…I am hoping the image Spillwords chose represents all the other beholders, the judgey, suspicious, intolerant etc etc others..because in my eyes I only saw her with love and compassion…and hope. Thank you so much for this comment Dale….much appreciated.

    Absolutely an amazing poem…”beauty is in the eye of this beholder”…this beholder – fantastic…the feeling you have brought through your lines…is transparent…I was seeing the visuals of every single line as I was reading this poem so slowly…so lively…many congratulations on being published, Karima…a gem you are ❤️

    • Thank you so much Naveen…the gem is you who just spent a lot of time reading and commenting on my poems:) You know how special this one is for me and I submitted it maybe 6 months ago and never heard back until now and it was a big surprise:) I love that you saw it so visually..I too still see her so visually..Amazing how imagery as well as emotions can last in the mind..to be recalled and re-remembered years later. Thank you my friend for reading and enjoying it 🙏🌹🙏
