Making it Real…..or Surprise!!!

Today is my Birthday. My real-life Birthday and I want to tell you a story:

Once upon a time, an avatar named Karima Hoisan was born in Second Life on
December 26th 2007.  She looked like this and grew up over 15 years to become
The avatar-poet you all know on WordPress and in Second Life:
noobie-me-1st-pic12goodt_017

Now, I would like to tell you another, somewhat parallel story:

A little girl named Donna Leviash was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin on the 9th of March.

BabyDonneIMG_2746

Donna at 3 years old                                          Donna at 18 years old

She had a very interesting and complicated life and lived many stages and phases. She ran away from home at 18 when her mother decided to re-marry, 7 years after her father’s death,

1. She was a hippie in Hollywood and played organ in a R&R band while living in a striped house.

2. She was first married to the lead guitarist:      3. Then to the bass player

and they had a small daughter, Poett and moved to Laurel Canyon in Hollywood.

4. She became very politically involved, anti-establishment and packed up Poett and drove down The Pan American Highway to Costa Rica, when Poett was 5 years old, looking for a better life. They lived on the top floor in this house that the high tide came in and washed through the first floor twice a day. It was like living out at sea.

5. They bought a farm and lived the ranching life without electricity for 10 years until soon after, her son Julian was born.

7. She was Vice President of the Fútbol Team 10 years with 9 players living in the house for over 4 years….Really involved in Fútbol!  Her Fútbol years,

She had always lived with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, but she was not diagnosed until later.
With the beginning of the internet, she found out so much more about a condition she had lived with, all her life and was invited to be studied by a team of doctors in Philadelphia.
* A footnote. her collagen defect makes her look about 20 years younger than she was. The only good thing about this disease.

8. The Jordanian years
She married again and moved to Jordan for 10 years. She converted to Islam, not for marriage, but for conviction. She loved living there and had incredible experiences, learned to adore her new family and felt this time in her life was very destined to be. She also added Arabic to her spoken languages….rode camels:) and met her platonic soulmate…

In 2007 she joined Second Life after returning to Costa Rica. Her marriage was over.
In the virtual world, she regained her self-confidence, her self-worth and she healed
little by little from emotional trauma she had lived through in this last year.
Today, the 9th of March I celebrate my 76th Birthday… I decided today was the day to join my two very real selves. Karima & Donna into who I am today:) I am very proud of all I have lived, learned and accomplished in my 76 years on earth in both the virtual and the real, Alhamdulillah. An old lady?? Never! My spirit has not aged at all… Too old to learn something new? Never!! While there is breath, all is possible…Keep learning!!
PS. I have no baggage with me…I have forgiven everyone and been forgiven by everyone.. I travel light to the next phase of the journey. Alhamdulillah.

My dear dear Donna/Karima, I am completely blown away! Your life is rich with so many experiences, no wonder your poetry has such great depth! You’ve not just lived one life but many and all of them are reflected in your writings.

You are special to me but now I love you more for sharing this.

Today you’re not just a friend, an inspiration, a cheerleader but you’ve taught me to be brave as well. Thank you and I’m pleasantly surprised! ❤

Karima and Donna, you have brought many new thrills to my life: live poetry, multimedia art, spontaneity, great times among the big three, and surprise after surprise. I have questions… like tell me about Strangeways and seeing Petra! Anything else that comes to mind that you haven’t yet shared! 😀 We still have a lot of ground to cover and much to reciprocate! Cheers and a Very Happy Birthday!

    • Hey J. wow you signed up to WP to make comments. That means a lot to me:) First I’m so happy to know you too and yes surprises are good sometimes:):) Strangeways was one of two Ravens I raised from fledglings. When he was grown and independent from me, he would fly free but if I walked to the store, he would fly eye-level next to me..circle around and catch up. If I went into the store, he would fly up to the roof and wait for me. He was so tame with people that we gave him a silverband that said “Strangeways please let me fly free” One day he didn’t return..we think that he was stolen.:(
Petra makes me cry every time I see it.. It is just overwhelming and the desert itself, Wadi Rum is one of the most mystical places where I have ever spent a night. This picture of me riding the camel is special. The guides like to lead you and you just sit..but I convinced them I was a rider and they let me ride on my own. It was so thrilling and something I will never forget:) Thank you for your SL friendship and for your birthday wishes…See you Friday:)

Appreciating every story. I’d like a raven for a friend. I’d also like to see Petra. I saw a really great documentary on it over the last year about its architecture and water management. Truly remarkable feats! What a life you have led!

I also felt that after 15 years, Karima could show the woman behind her blog, movies, poems etc. Karima has lived a fantastic life as an avatar, but her one in command, Donna Leviash, Milwaukee girl did too in her own right. So happy that you enjoyed getting to know the whole story…and pleased that it appears many here feel the same way. I wavered a bit about doing this…but now I know it was the right thing to do. To poetry and creativity, to love and compassion, to spend well spent the time given us on earth. Oh I will save you a seat..I think we might set the house a float with just one ha ha. Hugs and thank you again for these beautiful words. ❤️🤗🌹

Happy belated birthday Karima… a long life dictates that one should have a long story… and a long story without touching, is an empty story… merely a big book sitting on a shelf begging to be bought… to have a life… your book is a history of life, full and well worn, but not to the brim… for there are still pristine pages to be occupied by you… I settle back with a tall glass of lemonade to read… to enjoy… so much more…!

“Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.”
I have always loved and believed that:)

Dearest Karima, what a life full of adventures and crazy experiences that make us who we are today. It was daring to live to the fullest. I, too, was a very politically motivated young woman. You had the strength to live in many ways that many would never have. I admire your strength and ability to love, forgive, and ask for forgiveness. I have done the same in my life. I have asked those in my past life who I think I may have hurt to forgive me, and I have received Grace. I am so sorry you have had to leave with this horrible disease. You are right, and you look so unbelievably young, my friend. A beautiful woman in every way. I send you my love and appreciation for your friendship and great talent, dear Karima. Love you Joni

    • Awwww such a beautiful comment dearest Joni. I too am so grateful for our friendship made right here on WordPress. All my life it has been easy for me to forgive and also to ask for it. I have seen from the beginning, how imperfect we all are ALL are and so it makes it easier to admit to our imperfections and forgive those of others…This has been a blessing for me in my life and has helped me maintain a positive, unburdened spirit..which is one of the real factors in aging gracefully. Yes my Ehlers Danlos has been a burden, but one I have always dealt with and rode and did so many things, even with having it, dislocations, eye and heart problems, pain.. but it does make my skin look quite young(the only good thing). but here I am at 76 and still going strong, even if walking now is very difficult. I am totally grateful for my life, every stage, every decade…and just want to show others…we never get too old to create. Big hugs and much love and thank you for your words Joni, Love, Karima ❤️

I think you have an unusual capacity to love and adore others. It was evident by your birthday you have shared and continue to share so much love, Karima, in your heart and work. I love you, too; I wish I could have joined that circle around you on the night of your BD. Your beautiful children and grandchildren are a blessing and a statement in the beautiful life you have led. May God always shine upon you and your giving and so very lovely heart. Big hugs. I hope to be catching up as I can not believe all the work that you have done. Amazing, my friend. Happy belated Birthday, I am so glad and thankful I know you!

    • Thank you dearest one…I wonder if you can tell I slightly limp when I walk in that video..I try to cover it by inventing a rather bouncy step and so the fact one leg is shorter than the other is not so noticeable:) Thank you for your support your wonderful wishes and your loving friendship. I am so proud to know you and call you my friend…❤️

Sweetheart, no you can not tell. You were so beautiful I am surprised you were not in the movies. I knew the first time I read you, you were a sensitive and there are always many stories to tell when you are. You are special. I love you for your courage do you not know we all have such stories. You are an exceptional woman who live a full life and what a story you and God will have to talk about. I too will have quite the exchange with God. We will talk soon my dearest. Love, Joni 🦋🌹❤️🤗

  39. A little late to the party, but oh my goodness! What should I say? This is always going to be my favourite post by you. I already knew you to be this genuinely amazing woman, and an awesome writer, but this journey of yours. Just incredible! These are some great experiences: powerful, painful. And I feel drawn to you even more now. Thanks so much for sharing it my friend. May God keep you blessed, and strong. Take care, Karima.

  45. Wow! That’s quite a remarkable life story in a nutshell. You are actually the same age as my dad (and even his mom is still alive). How old do you feel in your heart, Karima’s age?

    • Hi, so sorry for this replying coming months after you sent it, but naughty WordPress and sent it by accident I’m sure to Spam. I just discovered it, and carefully put it where it belongs. Ahh I love this question you ask. I feel exactly 14 not a day older or younger and this young spirit inside has kept me young in so many ways. So..it’s good to maintain that younger version of yourself, very much alive..It makes Life itself more worthwhile…as we age. Thank you again for commenting.
