River of Peace

Floating in virtual water on my home sim

A small forward…
I am a practicing Muslim..I have been for 25 years but before that I was a converted Catholic and when my father was alive (I was 11 at his death) I was Jewish. I have the curious blessing of living the 3 Abrahamic religions in order:)
It has given me a unique perspective and for me,
we all worship the same God just in different ways.
I have always been attracted to gospel music and blue grass music and the music we played here in the countryside of Costa Rica, was so similar.
I heard this song last night in the credits and found it on YouTube.
I just loved it at first listen… I think it speaks for everyone who believes we are not alone on this planet…. and prayers are heard.
I will recite my poem (with all respect) to the music of the Moondoggies called
“Jesus on the Mainline”
I hope you will enjoy it.

River of Peace
Floating on that river of peace,
feeling every  tributary
Floating on that river of peace,
feeling every tributary
stretching its fingers ‘round the world

The water finds its way
to the saddest place on earth
The water finds its way
to the saddest place on earth
and brings the anguished  hopes of reprieve

I’m a floating witness
to The tears and  to the  joy
I’m a floating witness
to The tears and to the  joy
on the faces of the suffering ones

I pray every day
let the waters heal the pain
I pray every day
let the waters heal the pain
Let the waters bring the grace
Let the waters bring the grace.

Moving words, timely and also eternal.

Let the waters heal the pain!

And the boldness of laying your words directly over the singers works amazingly well. Innovative as ever!

    • Thank you Dale and glad you did enjoy the effect of hearing both sung and recited words at the same time. I always feel like I’m in someone’s livingroom and this song comes on and I break out into poetry….It kind of happened like that, on this one. I really feel this kind of music..so basic, human and yet full of faith.. Glad you liked how they worked together.

  6. This was a great listen and your words powerful in this day and age. The influence of three variations on a theme in your life is interesting. I see all three branches as being different ways to find meanings to life, rather than competing in any way.

    • Thank you David and yes I agree with how you see the three too….God is the common denominator and it is the same God:) There is no competition.

Thank you for your words on my poem too.. I’m glad they resonated to you.

  8. It is a poem that flows with the same serenity that it preaches. It is prayer, it is testimony, it is music of the soul. It reminds us that, beyond our particular beliefs, we all yearn for healing, comfort and peace. And that river, like grace, knows no boundaries.

You have once again outdone yourself and shared information I did not know about you my darling sis. Some poems don’t just speak to you — they settle into your bones, carrying you along like a current you didn’t realize you were already adrift upon. River of Peace is one of those rare pieces. Its gentle, looping structure mirrors the ebb and flow of water itself, each repeated line like the lapping of waves against a heart worn tender by witnessing oh, so, so much in life. KUDOS.

    • Thank you Sis..your words brought me tears..Thank you for floating along with me..and yes I do feel the lapping of the waves.. it soothes me in a time, that I can only offer prayers and scattered words of poetry. Thank you Sis for feeling me. 🤗💕🙏
