Celebrating my rebirth in the Virtual World of Second Life..14 years ago this month of December….
This is one of the first poems I ever wrote there:)
Crude Oil
Underneath the desert floor,
she was born with kicks, her heart out-poured,
pumping gallons, never ceasing,
her life’s blood was crude oil and it burned.
Worn to smooth by blasts of sand
then molded on the burning lands,
she gulped a breath and tried to stand;
her life’s blood was crude oil and it burned
Whirling moons and suns were spun,
Time marked the pace, a bullet’s gun,
that whizzed her to a second life,
then dropped her on her head,
but far from dead, she thrived… wide eyed.
Her engine roared ,
accelerator to the floor,
โWatch out world she’ll run right over you!”
Liquid thrust, to live Life’s lust
catapulted,ย self propelled; she moved.
Always churning, heart on fire
always seeking , always finding,
snatching gems from foreign tables
safe inside her pockets,
she would polish them (her treasures)
and honor them with poems and
keep them close forever.
Underneath the desert floor.
she was born with kicks, her heart out-poured,
pumping gallons, never ceasing,
her life’s blood was crude oil and it burned.
Worn to smooth by blasts of sand
molded once again on this new land,
she gulps a breath and tries to stand,
Pumping gallons, never ceasing,
her life’s blood is crude oil….how it burns!!

*footnote: this poem was inspired by a subconscious thought upon waking
This line repeatedly ran through my head
“pumping gallons, never ceasing, her life’s blood is crude oil….. how it burns!!! “
Just wow! So much going on there, and such imagery. Fourteen years being a poetic soul in the real metaverse, congratulations. ๐

“Her life’s blood was crude oil and it burned”…Her soul’s form is formless divine and it churned…the space to enlighten the Universe with her stars…it gives this feeling to see the unseen in the dark…the beauty of this poem can not be defined…coz there’s so much depth & shine…every single time I read your lines…I grasp more & then I sigh…I even recited your poem very loud…I was blown away by your words’ sound…Awestruck I am, I do admit…how can I not when your lines are pure magic…Karima, thank you for sharing your profound poem that you wrote 14 years ago…it’s still burning intensely with your beautiful glowing soul ๐ซ

Wow!! and oops..I just saw your amazing comment today…Like 3 weeks later.. You have such an eye that goes deep and also goes profound..goes into the poet’s words and finds treasures that you keep..recite out-loud…appreciate deeply, and you have the exact words to convey that to me.. I am the one awestruck by this comment…Your passion for poetry can not be hidden in your own poems and in your intuitive flowing reviews of others…of me..Oh Navin so grateful to be reading each other…Such a gift!! The fact that you could still feel the heat of this burning crude oil….blows me away… Thank you dear friend๐
