Green Screen

Hip then hop..move up and down; steal away like a thief…
Waving our flexi hair like Medusa, sitting in a coral reef…
The pastel colors are blinding my eyes; it’s All too much for me…
The vandals are pulling up the Sycamore tree; it’s All too much for me..

You were standing in front of a parking lot
You were standing against the roaring sea
You were standing in Berlin or in Manhattan
Everything behind you was a green screen

You were standing in front of The Taj Mahal

You were standing at the Adriatic Sea

You were standing in Dublin or the Tower of London…
Everything behind you was a green screen

Everything behind you was a green screen
Everything inside you was a green screen
Everything around you was a green screen
You weren’t really really really real,
but only two of us could see.

Everything behind you was a green screen
Everything inside you was a green screen
Everything around you was a green screen
You weren’t really really really real,
but only two of us could see.

Well I lost you twice, as if once was not enough…
You could have told the truth; because to find out now was rough…
It was all made of sand n mirrors, paint n special effects…
Well nobody is perfect and this scene was so complex

You were standing in front of a shopping mall
You were standing in the sand at the Black Sea
You were standing in Seattle on a farm of dairy cattle
Everything behind you was a green screen

You were standing in front of the Eiffel Tower
You were standing on the track of the Grand Prix
You were standing in Belfast or Bucharest
Everything behind you was a green screen

Everything behind you was a green screen
Everything inside you was a green screen
Everything around you was a green screen
You weren’t really really really real,
but only two of us could see.

Everything behind you was a green screen
Everything inside you was a green screen
Everything around you was a green screen
You weren’t really really really real,
but only two of us could see.

Song lyrics for sure! As I read it, I was thinking that you MUST include it in a reading. Powerful rhythm, as well as words.

I’m glad you’ve written in the end that “This feels like song lyrics..I might need to write the music:)”…coz it does all the way…when I was reading this wonderful piece…I felt the rhythm & the melody…I didn’t read the footnote at that time…you know what, music is built-in…I’m very sure, you’ll write beautiful music…there’s so much depth in your every single line…the powerful storytelling while you beautifully rhyme…the repetition is simply amazing…Green Screen is shining with pure intensity…it’s projecting the OLED imagery…self illuminating every single bit gracefully…it’s a masterpiece, Karima…keep expressing from your beautiful heart ✨💟💫

    • Hi Navin..glad you discovered this one… and yes definitely..it must be put to music inshAllah. It already is music, just have to add the notes:) Maybe you can come in-world and dance it with Joey and me:) This poem as you might have guessed did not come pouring out in one flood stream. I have been rewriting it for days, because it has to stay true to its rhythm and rhyme. I love your metaphor of the OLED screen..This one is very organic indeed:) The poet had to be the first to illuminate, as you point out. I love that image…all self illuminating “gracefully” Thank you dear Navin, for such a real and such an intuitive comment. Thank you too…for seeing my heart in this manner. Beams🌟

    • HI Veera, nice to have you visit again..Oh Good!! I am so glad you found pleasure in this one..I think I might make a musical background (especially beats) to read it against..I think that might be more effective (in my case *smiles) than actually singing it:):) Hope you will approve the finished product:) 🙏

This poem once again shows your sensitivity to emotional issues. The words directly touch the strings of heart. And its impact will definitely be multiplied once music is added. All the best, Karima for your musical journey to continue 😊💐💖🙏

    • Thank you Kaushal for once again feeling the moods of my poetry. I have been struggling with the music as I feel the beat but not yet a melody..plus I am more a reciter than a singer..but hopefully I will be able to pull this off for your approval and enjoyment:) 🤗❤️🌹

Oh my pseudo FATIMA ! How curious is this KARIMA ? The woman that hides behind her own beauty yet screams for us not to look , she fears one of us will understand her. Afraid of nothing yet she shields her painful past. She knows smiling faces tell the biggest lies,
This shy and curious woman that screams from the mountain top,
Then sadly hopes… no one will hear , she has been hurt before , as have we all, we shut the doors,
Karima, shine your light and bare your soul, I sense your “being” and feel your thoughts,
Whoever you are….. Yo hablo poquito espanol porque ahora yo vivo in Polynesie Francaise para cinco anos. Yo soy un Americano.
Mucho Gusto a usted ! I wish you PEACE and JOY ! Trust your stars Karima ! Sending you good thoughts ! You are a bit of a mystery , I am now a follower of your blog.

Karima, I have no idea what GREEN SCREEN is or how it works. AVATAR I know from the movie.
I wish you well Karima Hoisan ! Whoever you are and whatever you are and however you are !
If you take the ” eye” out of your name…..you are left with KARMA. “eye” like ” i ” ! And if you take an ” A ” and an “I” out of your name, you can spell MARK however my name is spelled with a SEA !
Marc….with a SEA “C”. At least that is what I think I SEA. I wish you PEACE Karima !
    goodbye ! Are you an AI ? ( artificial intelligence ? )
    Just me, I think……..Marc
