“War Child” by Dale Innis on Midjourney AI Art
Compassion First
(for the children of war)
If we learn nothing else
on our time on earth
for the survival of humanity
let it be compassion.
It’s as needed right now
as much as carbon offset,
cleaning up the seas
pure air and save the trees.
Clean air and water
mean nothing today
if we take them away
waging war.
If some are hurt
help them
if they cry, console.
How hard can that be?
But we harden our hearts
put on detached blindfolds
and shield ourselves
from the truth of their reality.
For the survival
of our human race
just some compassion
your compassion
but compassion first…..

Letting this stay with me . . . how poignantly expressed in these turbulent times. Powerful words, Karima, and a reminder that it should be and can be so simple. ❣️

Thank you Layla for reading and commenting too. It sure seems like it should be easier …I am not writing poetry a lot in this past month… making videos instead, but when I finally do, it comes straight from my heart. Thank you again for your thoughtful words 🙏

Such a beautiful poem Karima and so much needed. Compassion is everything and your words are ones to live by. It’s beyond me how we are in this predicament… yet again. 💕💕💕. Thank you for your loving, caring heart. ❣️

Thanks so much Cindy. Compassion is everything and you can’t have gratitude if you don’t have compassion first. I feel so strongly about this, but I never thought I would write this poem. It pretty much just wrote itself, and I got out of the way. The War Child is just a victim of the adults bad judgements.. So tragic and as you say…. How are we here again?? My heart is breaking. Big hugs Cindy 🤗

Thank you so much Kaushal, for reading and so glad you resonate with me on this too. Since the 60’s I was active in movements that brought up the need to see the suffering of the children in their parent’s war. It breaks my heart today to see so many innocents, their lives in ruins, for things so out of their control.

Yes, Karima, it’s a pathetic situation. But I appreciate your concern and past activities.

Wow Jeff! Welcome back and how good to see you. Thank you for reading and commenting on this one….it seemed impossible to me the world does not think this way…but sadly, I have seen it doesn’t.

Absolutely. Compassion first. And compassion alone. If we are to survive this madness of us vs them. Us and them are all humans. And only compassion makes us humans.

Yes, it’s what separates us from the inhumans. Thank you for understanding and agreeing my friend.
