A Dozen Roses

I’d bring you roses every day,
even if you had to apologize to me.
It’s not worth losing the afternoon
when life’s a ticking time bomb
and every minute we have less,
So let’s just make amends….let’s.

So impulsive was this decision
I cut the flowers with my hands,
and the thorns made my blood appear
and run down my arms.
What’s a little blood, if I can bring you this surprise…
a bouquet of red roses and a heart that has forgotten…
when I could be sulking in my studio
vowing to never again, call you.

I’d bring you roses every day
especially if you need to apologize to me
I love you too much to waste our time.
Imperfect creatures, we sometimes get it wrong
and my promise that I make to you is…
when it’s your turn to choose the worst thing to say
I will appear on your sidewalk
with a dozen long-stemmed roses
and a heart and a smile …
genuinely happy to see you.

Ah, I adore this sentiment, and the way you express it. Grudges hurt only the holder!

Such a beautiful poem filled with love…not holding on to the unnecessary…moving on with time & resetting the things through understanding & more love ✨❤️💫🌹

    • Thank you dear Navin…yes, it helps us travel lighter, as we get older too. I have, over the years, settled old grudges, old disconnects from friends by being the first one to reach out…and it works. All those old harbored feelings just disintegrate:) in the air….and it’s always a win/win:)
