I’m Alive!!

Is there anything else more precious that we have, than life itself..?
We can smile at trees salute the neighbors save the bees and declare for the world to see
“I am alive..I’m still alive, I’m so alive!!”

In our moments of darkness, hope starts to flee but when you are dead, there is nothing
to hope for… but if we stay alive .. all the doors of possibilities open wide.
Stand in an open field and shout it out, dance with the wind, “I am alive..I’m still alive, I’m so alive!!”

If you have walked away from an accident, or a surgery, or a snake bite or a fall off your mountain bike, side swiped by a taxi,  broken bones will heal,  but the fact your’re alive is all that counts…Yell it to the sky “I’m alive, I’m still alive…I’m so alive
Grab that pony on the merry go round..and go around again
Look at me “I’m here I’m still alive!!”

The tears of thankfulness fall down my face; on this merry go around, I know my place and when it pulls me back from the abyss,  I never think twice, I come out with this:
Nothing else more precious than Life itself, shout it out while you can“
I am alive..I’m still alive, I’m so alive!!’

When you wake up in the morning and you just turned ninety-five…a lifetime of thankfulness and you open your eyes and sing out… don’t be shy it’s what its all about..I’m here on a brand new day
“I’m alive!! I’m still alive!!”

    • Haha I had hummus, olives, tortillas (Costa Rican version of Pita Bread) and coffee not sure it sparked this song, but I can tell you the song sure did spark my poem.. Honestly, I had no idea I was going to write this or even feel this way, but the music made me rememeber the basics : Life is the most precious thing we have. I am so grateful for every day and every moment..It’s such a gift..so while we have it..Let’s Live it!!! Big HUGS Grab a pony and ride:):)

Buenas noches Karima.

    • I’m smiling big, Kaushal, yes this happy little musical piece, when I finished it (still having no idea if I would write a poem to it) just spontaneously made me feel joy that after 77 years..I’m still here, writing music, writing poetry, loving life….and that is how the poem was born:) It means so much, your very positive words and your enjoyment of both my voice and music

Always my pleasure to read your posts, Karima! But never mention how many years you have lived, but how many years you have to live, that too with a purpose, with agility and vibrancy.

Scott’s comment is thank you so much for sharing this positive and uplifting piece with us. I really enjoyed the music too. Karima I listen to this and it takes me back to when I was a little girl and I actually have a few good memories of my family. Once they took me to Coney Island and I got to ride of the carousel and they had the rings that you could reach out and grab. It immediately took me back to that day, it was a great day and my dad bought me my first coffee ice cream cone. It was such a good day and they were sober. I felt loved. This music and the beautiful words pull you in with that great beat which is very similar to my memories of the happy music that is repeated when you get on that child like fantasy ride. It makes one feel happy.

“The tears of thankfulness fall down my face; on this merry go around, I know my place and when it pulls me back from the abyss,  I never think twice, I come out with this:
Nothing else more precious than Life itself, shout it out while you can“
I am alive..I’m still alive, I’m so alive!!’” I love this especially because it is uplifting to hear someone’s reflection of all the things in this world that we have to be grateful for and then some. It is hard to get onto a carousel and not feel like a child, carefree and full of grace. Great job with Dale’s great artwork. The woman anticipating a ride. Beautiful work you two. Big hugs and much love to you dearest Karima. Thank you for reminding us all to be grateful while we are alive and the fact that we are still alive is a gift. 🎁❤️🙏

    • First of all, please thank Scott for his words and letting me know he enjoyed “I’m Alive!”
The music actually birthed the poem and you and I are in sync becuase this music also reminds me of a Carousel, a FunPark, where my dad used to take me when I was a child. I have such fond memories of these moments and I find this music, heart-opening happy, full of joy and life.
As always your reviews, what you see in my musical poems are just so detailed and beautifully related.
      Love your words:
” It is hard to get onto a carousel and not feel like a child, carefree and full of grace.” Yes and sometimes especially in our later years, this deep feeling of joy reminds us of the presious gift that has been given to each…our lives!
Thank you both for taking your time out to listen and so glad you enjoyed both the music and the message,
      Big Hugs Sweetie,
      🤗❤️🙏🎶

Dearest Karima, we really did enjoy this post very much and this new music tool you have is really amazing. The music went so well with the words and they are both so inspiring and took me back to some very happy memories which makes this post a big five star read for me immediately. Scott also loved the music and lyrics as he felt the same way, it is like a trip to an amusement part and the smells and sounds that go with it. Thank you Karima for the treat! Lots of love, hugs and blessings coming your way sweetie! 🌹
