The Helium Balloon Is Dying

Hi everyone,
well life is full of surprises…take this poem and little video (who knew?)
I had no idea until I stumbled upon the “discarded footage” and decided
to resurrect it. I recited it to the music of Brian Crain, “Ice”
I
give you this poem/video for your enjoyment.

“i loved this sensitive & respectful goodbye to a nonhuman being who gave such healing pleasure & wholesome flights of imagination to you, & to all who viewed it with delight & appreciation! farewell to a an old friend, welcome to all new friends🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼🥰”

    • Thank you soulkin, he truly did bring us a month full of joy.. riding twisting wind currents all over the house. Smiling in our faces when we least expected him to blow in. You, dear friend, know the utter joy of these gaseous(:)) creatures sharing a space with you. Lighter than air, they bring up our own imagination and deep-rooted fantasies of flighta nd floating effortlesly!! 🙏🤗💕

Amazing! Such a capture in poetry and voice of such an ordinary but meaningful moment, and thought. Lovely and tragic and flirting with funny… That smile! That calm tour of the room while the other balloons sit immobile! Perhaps in respect. We can all see the possibilities of our own ends in his… may we all go as beautifully.

Hi Karima, sorry for my long absence, I will send you a lengthy explanation but all is good, great in fact. I happened upon this as a notification popped into my email. What a cute little story, my eyes were glued to the little fella, maybe not a fella at all, who knows? I found myself becoming sad, you really know how to hit home to anyone with compassion. How you managed to tug on everyone’s heartstrings beats me but you do and this is why you’re brilliant in what you create. I wanted you to squirt some more helium into him to keep him alive and therefore ‘heli him’. Well done Karima, great job.

    • haha who is this? I’m sure I’m really glad you’re back I loved your comment and actually, long lifers like this one, go back to the helium store for a refill, but this face down hovercraft was so wonderful…he did this stage for almost 5 days. Everyone in the house remembered him. He Did get a refill:) Who is this? I want to celebrate!!

What a sweet tale with a touch of sadness. I first saw this from the vantage point of the baby, whose view of what is living and what is not is not so clearly defined as those who are older. To them, and hopefully some of us older kids, everything has life within.

    • It’s not even so defined in me…I have real relationships with beach balls in the pool, helium balloons that I have come to appreciate and admire. Sort of like the bubbles…a short magnificent flight…until they pop. Time is so relative and so is “what is alive” Thank you Scottius for commenting on my blog…means a lot to me, you came here and left your words.🎈

    • Thank you dear friend, believe me…they have a life..a life of their own and very different personalities…Some are explorers, some just hang around in smaller areas but when they are hit by crosswinds oh my…they dance like tornados, touching the floor then soaring up quickly and spin and spin. They are breath taking.. I have 5 in the air right now…hehe reading over my shoulder:)
