Still In My Second Life

Still in My Second Life

Really real…
that’s how almost 14 years inside
a second life
can be described.
It’s not over yet…but
like everything these days,
I doubt it will ever be the same.

We must never underestimate:
the unknown,
the first time..
It’s a complex memory
played in dockside blues bars
with Tom Waits
and we were
cheek to cheek.

That first time I looked
at my glowing white skin,
a vampire smile,
two filed fangs
and oh my god…
how gorgeous!
as I hovered off the ground
I am that sad Goth Girl
from way back when
growing up in front of a mirror
and I finally see myself!!

Play me one last song,
while I have two legs
and can cling to you
For I am being called
by fields and trails
that need galloping and trampling.
I search down deep into my
bottomless inventory
and Voila
I am that gorgeous
head -held -high
that kicks up her heels
at your side.
and we run off
over unexplored beaches…
This Moon is only for horses.

Did I love here…?
You know I did.
Did I cry like never before?
Oh yes..pain hurts
even without a body
and the tears.
Did I rejoice a million times
ahhh why would you ask?
I have not been here a week
I didn’t stay a month
The years build up in a pile
l still love and I play
let my imagination
run all day….
Been in control and
given it all away…
just because…
just because…
I have been here forever and ever

I think I was born somewhere else,
but the first time,
I walked through the screen
I knew I was home free
I haven’t left yet…
Why would I ever leave?

Wow! So poignant, but so beautiful! The pain is palpable in every word of yours. Inside a second appealing. In fact, 14 years is not much to erase a memory that is well entrenched deep in the heart. But the way you have written this piece with such a feel can only be written by you, Karima. I was simply carried away by your magical words. Stay happy and blessed, my friend 😊💐💖🙏

    • Thank you so much Kaushal, for being my first comment…I feel many just were not sure what to say… but a virtual world is not a game for me;it is a world…another form, but in the end, yes those behind their avatars are very much real people…and as in this world, you find everything, from the well-intentioned to the malicious. I have met that whole spectrum in my 14 years of discovery…and if it’s true I have seen and experienced heartache and deception, I have also found meaningful relationships and amazing collaborative and individual outlets for creativity….so I’m still here 🤗 Thank you again for your sensitive and empathetic words…They mean a lot to me….❤️🌹🙏🤗🌷

KARIMA!!!! This piece is beaming with nostalgia, deep emotion, love, the beauty of the journey and inspiring vulnerability! I absolutely love it, you just blew me away. The way you capture such powerful meaning and inner truths is so comforting to read…I feel at ease reading your perfect words. You know how to tap into the heart of others by beautifully sharing the beat of yours, and I thank you for that!!!!! Love you, dear friend 🖤🤗

    • Oh Ace, I always love your take on my poetry…you have a way of seeing inside,my lines in such a special way..well it has to do with your own fearless but very sensitive soul.. I use simple words..describe small captured moments but you allow them to resound inside of you and you FEEL them!! Thank you once again for your generous commentary, and something you said above, I could also say with your poetry, “I feel at ease reading your perfect words. You know how to tap into the heart of others by beautifully sharing the beat of yours” You know how to do that too Ace, which is why it was an instant vibrational connection, reading your works for the first time…so thank you too dear soul❤️🤗🌹🙏🌟

What a lovely description of being a happy oldbie in SL, or really anywhere. It will never be like it was that first day, that first week, but still it is wonderful; why would be ever leave?

    • Thank you Dale,my longtime avatar friend, you are even older than me ( soon to be 15?)
almost as old as Second Life itself (18 years old) Neither of us spend as much time there as before, but still there are always things new to discover, and all those crazy ideas we make into machinimas with Nat and our tried and true friends, some since the beginning.
So glad you are staying too:):)

Such beautiful words, dearest Karima! I adore how you speak of Second Life. I can only imagine how it must be! Thank you for taking is on this journey and helping us get a peek into this life. I would have never known about this Second Life.. If it had not been through you!! ❤️❤️❤️✨💗🌹🤗✨✨

    • Habeebity! Thank you for being open and listening to my random posts about Second Life..So many people have a very negative concept, that it is about Sex parlors and basically like going to Hell * smiles.. but Second Life, just like our 1st Life has everything..So it’s up to each to seek and look for what they find interesting..what they need…For me personally, I avoid the sex parlors *hehe and love the Live music and poetry scene…The Art galleries and even digital reconstructions of cities, museums, and all the beautiful places, that fellow residents build and share with everyone. Just like our 1st Life, it is what you make of it..Just like WordPress what you are interested in you will read and you will post.. Second Life has been a very well kept secret….probably because of the negative press it got in the first one actually ever understood what it could offer..
BIG HUGS Diana, my reply is a big “You are very welcome”and Thank You for being you an artistic, open and inquisitive soul..🙏🤗❤️🌹🦋

Such beautiful verse, dear Karima. I love the mirroring and reminiscence, and the connection between the “real” and “unreal.” Is gorgeous. Who’s to say what real is anyway? And, the still frame is sublime, so very beautiful. Love this poem, my dearest friend. ❤️🙏🤗🥰✨

    • Thank you Jeff..I am glad you brought that point up too..smiles..”Who’s to say what real is anyway?” That is so very true, and in these time especially, there is much discussion on what is reality..I am so happy you liked my photo collage of a few highlights of my poem and my Second Life…Thank you again for being always so supportive of my posts and me:) 🤗🦋❣️🌼🌹🌟

  7. What a splendid work my dearest Karima.

    “Play me one last song,
    while I have two legs
    and can cling to you
    For I am being called
    by fields and trails
    that need galloping and trampling.”

And write me more of you while my soul can still feel the beauty of your words… one more poem…

    “I walked through the screen
I knew I was home free
    I haven’t left yet…
    Why would I ever leave?”

    • You put a Saturday noontime smile on my face beautiful Gabriela:) As the title of my blog suggests…I fell into that Digital Rabbit Hole almost 14 years ago…and this life has run parallel and sometimes contrary (smiles) to my Real Life.Oh the experiences I have known and I made memories,,something conversation in text does not usually do..but add the visual, the sounds, and the colors and all of a sudden your mind remembers a scene as if you had really lived it…and on some level that now seems very natural to me,…yes you really had:) Thank you dearest poet for your appreciation and yes..I will keep filling you with more words…because you asked:)❤️🤗🌹❣️🌷

      • Ah, I did ask and I will read all of them. I can’t wait.
I think I understand the feelings you are talking about. They are in me too. Yet most of the time I feel like the line between reality and imagination gets blurred. I remember writing once: who can really distinguish between them? ( I was referring to reality and imagination)
Anyway, hon, your words are divine and I am so glad I put a smile on your face 🥰🌹❤️🥰🌹❤️🥰🌹❤️

  8. Powerful write-up. I feel connected and drawn to the emotion of it. It feels so sincere and heartfelt. Stanza 3 and 4 especially reached me. And another great ending!

  9. Smiling big…truly Second Life is what you make of it…. I have made it like a 3 dimensional WordPress, where we can enjoy each other’s creations, make collaborations and bathe in beauty and surprises. Glad you could feel connected..You and I might sit at a small table, drink our coffee by the sea and read poetry back and forth to each other in voice:) 🌹🙏❤️🦋

This is beautifully written dear Karima. I love the way you talk about the world you create it is so beautiful.

“Did I rejoice a million times
    ahhh why would you ask?
I have not been here a week
    I didn’t stay a month
The years build up in a pile
l still love and I play
    let my imagination
    run all day….”

Who wants to come back from that. Your realities are conflicting as pain lives in both but you can decide how you spend that time. I love your reference to the horse also. I love horses and they are so beautiful and strong. I did a lot of riding when I lived in Lexington.

Beautiful piece my talented friend. Love ya Joni ❤️🤗🦋🙏

    • Awww thank you Joni…yes I am a rider too all my life, but in Second Life I got to be the horse:) I think I sent you that video clip..but maybe not? Please let me know..but we are horse avatars running down the beach and Wow! it felt fantastic. This was our fantasy where horses were very much part of it all:) Oh yes horses are such unique animals…the kind of man I always wanted to find (but didn;t haha) strong but so sensitive…Horses have that!! What can I say? second Life is another world, where we make memories:) Big Hugs sweet are a gem💎🦋❣️🤗

You nailed it my girl! Your words conjure up many of the mysteries of Second Life. Especially your second stanza, which, by the way, also applies to our first life! Thanks for the reminder. I must return to Second Life.
