Fly to me!

If there is one thing I understand
it’s you.
We are not as different as you first thought
What makes you laugh, makes me roll my eyes
Because, I’ve seen too much, and you know
that’s true.

There is a cold cold heat, my dark spirit seeks
I find it when I open my eyes and feel your heart beat

You always understood,
the variance between the negative
and the gloriously elegant,
the seldom comes along,
the totally different.
You know in which category you can find me,
You hear my call like a pleading cello
and you take wing

Crows with shiny blue plumes,
that dress in feathered tutus
how they please me.
You, tracing my face with a fallen feather
Ah, how you tease me.

There is a cold cold heat, my dark spirit seeks
I find it when I open my eyes and feel your heart beat

And you are correct I am a Queen in my Time
I hope you know you are my chosen,
and that I am not unkind.
The first moment I saw your face,
heard your voice, watched you walk away
I knew that you would ask to be mine

So I’ve given you wings
to return when I call
I’ve planted your passion for me
like a tree that grows tall…
from your toes…
to your uncommon fantasies.

Everything about you
is so intriguing
Everything about me,
you find so appealing.
I promise to leave your cage door
open to capricious winds
and if you choose to fly away
I have no doubt
that you will also choose
to fly back again.

There is a cold cold heat, my dark spirit seeks
I find it when I open my eyes and feel your heart beat

  1. this is lovely, Karima ❤

I'd love to know who or what inspired it 🙂

    • Thank you so much David❤️ and this poem was inspired by nothing more than allowing myself to fall into this amazing illustration by Dale, and just writing down what “she said” to me. I was drawn to this, the very minute I laid eyes on it. I told Dale, this picture will be a poem…but I have no idea what about…and then, my muse attuned her ears and told me what she was saying:):) That was my process David…Thank you for asking🙏

    • …And you are so perceptive Kaushal!! Yes it all felt different and I knew I wanted to record it, as soon as I wrote it. The music came soon after, like providence, it appeared and then…it just all fell in place. As I said to David, the image itself was my inspiration…it talked out-loud to me. Thank you so much for this great comment. I’m smiling.

Darkly beautiful! And directly twanged some of my own shivery strings. 🙂

“There is a cold cold heat, my dark spirit seeks”

Just gorgeous (and again expertly crafted).

    • What is it with these images you are producing, like a pied piper for my muse, who seems to love them above all else at the moment, as a constant stream of inspiration? You have become a Master Prompter(I think is the term) and we are all reaping the pleasure of seeing them before our eyes. Don’t stop Dale! Please! Thank you for this artistic wizardry. ❤️🙏

Awww thank you! I don’t know if I’m particularly skilled, or just got started early on. 🙂 But always delighted when you find inspiration in one of my images!

With pen in hand, it as if you make love to the parchment, caressing it with your word of thought. Well done young lady. Always proud of you.

Karima, how do you do that?…it’s like you’ve dived into Dale’s beautiful artwork & have come back with this gorgeous piece…you transported me to this world…I felt as if I were there…where this poem was the real scene that I was observing with my own naked eyes…that’s the magic of your amazing words & beautiful voice…you’re so expressive…you’re born with this, my dear friend ✨💟💫

    • Wow Navin I am so sorry I never saw this comment…your beautiful words on how my interpretation made you feel. This is the biggest compliment for me, that my words helped you dive into this intriguing picture with me…stand as a silent observer in her court, while she had such an intimate conversation (we imagine) with someone very close to her. We might be the proverbial fly on her Chamber wall and she pulls us in.Thank you for adding that my recitation added to the mood..Alhamdulillah, I do love to fall inside paintings and music…They both always have something to say….and you dear Navin find the words to inspire me onward..:)🌹❤️🙏
