Pure Love
For Umahmad

Look at us in living color
staring back from an onyx picture frame
The best I could find at the time,
but nothing was good enough
to hold the reality of who we were
in that place, we were both in, at the time,
who we grew to be in the desert nights
with the curtains blowing wild and free.
The most subtle pure love of an entire lifetime.
Against all predictions… just for each other.
Pure love.

At leisure and in comfort
we let our smiles speak for us
Just when the lens caught our
moment sublime,
I had already captured it in my mind.
You squeezed my hand;
It was something we did when we walked
up and down the cobbled streets together.
Nothing can erase that memory, especially Time.
“Here we are; we exist,” you could hear us saying
“Oh and we know what love is, at its purist.”
You don’t need to explain a thing, nor do we to you
What is…just is and only comes once
if you are so lucky, in a lifetime…
Pure love.

Pictures may fade but not the feelings;
they get put away to get on with our day,
but when the lights are low, how easy it is
to remember every detail,
and fall into the flooding imagery, letting go,
in a relentless river that flows to the very end of our story.
This is the poster we made for our movie,
without having any idea, what an Epic it would be.
Traversing countries and the Atlantic Ocean
just so much stranger than fiction,
you and me. And I want the world to know;
it was pure love from the day I met you,
until I put you in the ground
and let you go.
Pure love,

Karima Hoisan

Pictures may fade but not the feelings…so true, Karima, and especially when you talk of your own mother. This is the purest form of love on this earth. I’m very sentimental about my mom. Sending you love and blessings to you 💖💐🙏

All I can say is that it is better for the picture to be siting on the piano than the piano sitting on the picture. Wow ! Sometimes I am very profound. But usually I am just a little crazy ‘sometimes” funny. Trying to make out the photograph. Did you two have an alien baby ? That would explain my difficulty in trying to communicate with you !
At the bottom of the photograph on the right. Your baby has beautiful eyes !
What planet ? I am guessing Tralfamadore !

    • Actually you made me laugh Marc..no alien babies, but it sure looks like one with photo manipulation:) Now I can’t stop seeing it…so thanks for that Marc lol. It was a special person in my life and now she’s gone. You are my out of the box friend on WordPress..Who let you out? 😉

Ah, so beautiful! Such memories that can come from a picture, and even its frame. You share these profound feelings so well! I’m in noisy places today and haven’t been able to listen to the track; I know it will be lovely, but I’ll comment again when I’ve listened!

Karima Karima Karima!!! This is going to be a long comment 😆. It’s been a busy day but I saw you posted and have come back to this piece several times throughout the day as a peaceful little break to read your soothing words. I could finally sit down now and take it all in…and what a treat that has been!! “What is…just is and only comes once” – that line is insanely epic because I can feel the emotion but also the essence of letting love fly/go freely. There is soooooo much Love oozing in this piece, it makes one tap into the heart while reading. I’m so grateful I got to read this so many times today, you have no idea what a gift this piece was to me. Thank you, my dear friend. Such beautiful, graceful and meaning-filled writing 🤍🤍🤍🤗🤗🤗🤗

    • That blows me away Grace, that you read this one several times through out your day. I guess parts of it spoke to you.
“What is…just is and only comes once” Yeah…I have found this to be true.
I think when we are in the eye of our miracle, we know this is something like nothing before. We know. So we treasure, help Time stand still, so we can take that picture in our mind, or frame it and place it on top of our piano..We know this probably will not come again and we want to engrave it to memory…Then there is a whole other part, that is only hinted at, I added it to my tags, Platonic Romance. Really, people question if there is such a thing…I hope my poem, might help answer their questions. Smiles.. Loved this comment my dear friend and how it inspired me to answer you, as soon as I read it. Thank you dear Grace for your encouraging and uplifting words about this special poem for me. Hugs 🤗❤️🙏🌈🦋

Thank you Belavar for this exceptional reflection on my poem. I cherish it.

““Here we are; we exist,” This is Magic, it bursts out like a firework display and illuminates the whole poem of Remembrance!. It glows. It feels like being in Church Temple or Mosque it’s so Sacred……..which is kind of ironic…..but it’s the Inner Sacred Space where this occurs! ”And I want the world to know” is why I say thank you myself because you share this with us: a sublime tribute to that Soul with whom yours connected
”Unless you be born again”….We are born again IN LOVE…..that’s where we shout ”here we are! We Exist” It’s too deep to ramble on
It communicates that happiness in such a way that I feel happy to know you experience/d this , as a Poet you fulfill your mission on earth so well. thanks.”

Pure love”…Karima, Karima, Karima…every single word of this heartfelt poem, dedicated to one & only Umahmad is magic…the emotions, the pauses, the breaths & the voice…every element speaks, sings, streams love…I was sitting in silence after I listened to this piece…thrice…a piece of your heart…”Fade into You” – perfectly suited to your beautiful voice & the rythm of this heart touching piece…such beautiful picture of you two…thank you very much for this beautiful sharing, dear friend ❤️

    • Naveen! I was hoping you would find time for this one…because, well this story has been shared with you, when we first met. I would say it was my defining relationship, although it was caught in a capsule of a total of 11 years in Time and existed parallel to my marriage for many years. I don’t think I ever was able to write so really about her… about us. She was always a haunting, a scepter on full moon nights or when I played the piano in the moonlight. Ironically, this picture and this is what struck me, was in the very beginning…We were creating our own story, every day was a blank page. We never laid down rules, we just grew closer to each other, without looking for labels or explanations. It always seemed right…I feel we, without trying, “invented” platonic romance…some ambiguous nether place …more than friends, less than lovers. Thank you for your amazing words and how you felt my poem, Dearest Naven. This is a big story for me and you know I have thought of writing the book, but that would not be fair, to many who are still here. I just accept that poems like this one, every now and then will float to the surface, demanding to be written. I will write each and every one and still feel that I am falling short of conveying how very special she was and always will be for me. Your beautiful words help me to see that you know too, and I am forever grateful for that, Naveen, my dear unique friend 🤗🌈🌹

Platonic romance…I love the sound of it…actually I love everything about it…yeah, you did share with me when we met…how can I ever forget…those moments in your life were one of the best…why would it not be fair if you write the book?…this book is already in you…please let it flow freely through your veins on the paper sheet…it’s only my request…of course, you must always do what’s right for you, my dear unique friend…it’s my pleasure listening to your beautiful voice…Pure Love it was, it is & it will always be 💟

    • Thank you my dear friend…as you know she has been the muse of so many of my poems, but always a curtain of anonymity between her truth and my poems. I just decided, so many years later, it was time to tell our reality as best as I could in one poem..leaving so much out, but like a captured picture in a frame:). Thank you for you comment and your support!!!

What do you mean “you fixed the picture” of the alien baby ?? It’s a good thing I was able to salvage my copy ! I voided the faces of you and your friend . I am selling the alien baby photos on the internet and they are selling quicker than papusas at a San Salvador Soccer tournament !! Would you like me to forward your 50 % cut of the profits ? No, BAD IDEA ! You would just buy more of that good Costa Rican Rum !
Do you SKYPE ? Just a thought. Sending you good thoughts Karima ! Peace
