“Monochrome Girl” by Dale Innis on Midjourney AI
In The Night of My Calling
In the night of my calling.
I only pretended to be awake.
Something deep inside me
that has never awakened
kept holding me down
at the bottom of my sleep.
It was a safe still bed
below the silver shining veil
I had no need to breathe or speak.
I was not in a form
that required maintenance
or anything much of me.
It came like a rumble
this calling that reached me.
It begged to be let in
to be welcomed
to brush its hair
and give thanks
to dry the tears
to look a stranger in the eye
touch them and say,
“I’m so glad you’re finally here.”
I felt almost human and seen
tears ran down my face;
they pumped through my veins
Every single suffering person
in the whole world
knocked on my door
at the same moment
saying “We can’t any longer”
And I let them in.
I let them into my heart
for as long as I could hold them.
Then they stopped their crying
and in that moment
they felt totally safe;
they were totally safe.
They were here, then they were gone.
And I felt a great emptiness inside…
Because, now there was no doubt…
I was totally wide awake.

Oh, beautifully expressed. If every suffering person in the world could be comforted…
Thank you Dale and yes…Inshallah, at least for a few minutes..
i love this poem. it speaks for something deep inside that also wakes in me! nothing is happening yet a whole lot is going on!
I think it is a process like everything..and as we talked about…there is that right time for everything too:) Thank you soulkin..I am glad you felt this one too🤗
What an incredible poem, Karima, that hurtles toward its necessary and awakening ending. Gorgeous! ❤
Thank you so much Layla..I have been asleep and quiet for quite a long time.. but what wants to come…comes when it wants. Your words are very inspiring for me.
Another of your splendid pieces that resonates…
Thank you so much. I seem to be caught between sailing above it all or coming down and feeling it all. Sighs 🤗

Thank you, Karima, for this wonderful and inspiring poem.
I would like to write you a quote from a famous German poet:
“Whatever is not in man does not come from him.”
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 – 1832) is considered one of the most important representatives of German-language poetry
Greetings from the beautiful Rhine-Highlands / Germany….

Thank you so much Rosie. I really loved the quote and also your comment. Greetings from beautiful Costa Rica 🇨🇷
What an ending!…it gave me goosebumps…the way you “build” your pieces is still amazing to me…it’s like one is turning the volume up gradually…the cinematic effect…this is such a deep piece of awakening at a different level…Karima is written all over this piece…your signature style ✨❤️💫
Thank you my friend..interestingly, this poem came through a day after I finished my video/poem The Mountain, where I say sometimes it’s just better to fly above the pain..but this message was very different than that. Yes it was a type of awakening “at a different level” as you say. Thank you again for vibrating to its message. Haha… I like you see a “signature style” in my writing…Love that ❤️
How lovely…I’m gonna check your poem, The Mountain as well…I need to catch up…I do see your signature style & I love that…the pleasure is mine, dear Karima ❤️
Hugs my sensitive friend… your eyes dive deep below the surface as your poetry does too. ❤️
Amazing poem, Karima!
