The Fish Sissies: Search For The Midnight Loon

It’s Here!!  It’s Ready!!  It’s Finally Finished.
This is my labor of love in 4K and a full 12 min 47 seconds, but just get cozy, play it on a big screen, make some popcorn and enjoy my short film:) or long machinima.
This movie started as a Garage Band song I composed over a month ago and grew into a “movie soundtrack” and well..soundtracks need a movie to go with it….and so this film was born:)
I could have not done this without the help and love of my Fish Sissies, Suzanne Moomintoog  &
DzinWiz Babii!! My Pisces Sisters (Fish Sissies) of 16 years in Second Life gave me the green light and their total commitment to my project. We laughed through our shoots and even this stressed Director had a great time.
Dale Innis supplied the scripts that made us move and many of the background images that I warped and manipulated to make them, something new:)
Some of the most spectacular imagery were actually photo gifts given to me by my dear friend James Ottóbre in California..who has a very large, unique and mind-blowing garden, and these were unaltered pictures of his flowers waving in the background.
Thanks to all the actors, to Luna Branwen and Joey Starchild who are so ready (and always have been) to raise their hand when I needed them:)
I hope you will take the time to watch it all (all almost 13 minutes and more important, I hope you are entertained.
I am just so thankful I could take this idea from conception to reality. I am 77 and still one of my biggest thrills is making virtual machinimas,,,something  I learned in the last 15 years.
I am grateful for my health, for my life and for my wonderful friendships with those who have enjoyed what I do in the past. I thank the WordPress Community for their amazing support too:)
Likes and Comments on YouTube are always welcome!! Turn it up..Dance to the credits:) Watch in 4K:):)
Love,
Karima ❤️

What a great sweet wild story! And so beautifully produced and narrated. I do love the soundtrack that started it all, too! Where do you get these things? 🙂 Happy to have contributed a few boat-moving and dancer-moving scripts to this work of art.

    • Thank you Dale, you were so vital for the boat moving, the Bridge dance.. being there for moral support. You make us move!! Wow, I feel like I just gave birth to a 12pound 47 oz baby lol but I feel the joy, now that it is over..now that it’s out:)..I will miss this crazy time consuming project…My biggest labor of love in the machinima genre. Thank you for being in it too..

Did I earn my Best Boy credit? Hope so:)

  2. I watched this in true fascination, although the width of my smilessssssss bunched my cheeks so much it scrunched my eyes into tiny slits (lol). The moral of the story is beautiful, like a modern day Fable about trust, commitments and protecting nature from exploitation. Even after having been “on set’ filming the shots your imagination required, your finesse at stitching it all together so seamlessly into such a completely spellbinding tale makes me feel genuinely AWESTRUCK! All this inspired from a melody that struck the right chord with you?! Yeah, that is the stuff of dreams… the genius of freeing yourself from any limitations and pursuing the vision that only you could see in your mind… to transform an idea into a living embodiment that is so full of creativity in every moment. Alas, the wait was soooooooo worth it – to finally SEE and FEEL the entire story!! I might be biased, but You, my dearest Sissy-Poo, are the epitome of a compassionate creative entity that selflessly gifts the world at large with one-of-a-kind journeys from the windows of your imagination that endlessly enthrall and delight audiences. Thank you for sharing your Gifts with Us ((HUGS)). Definitely one of your best (so far, lol). More please!!!

Thank you for all your glorious words…well I am just an Art for Art’s Sake kind of girl and my reward is two-fold..I love feeling impassioned for a project and letting it swallow me whole and I love entertaining others. Since I can’t invite you all into my living room, this is the way I can “show you a nice time” You my Sissy Poo for sweet 16years no how we do that in Second Life..we can invite everyone into our living rooms..virtually but for those who have not discovered the beauty of having an avatar….I make machinimas:) I love you Sis..I just love us 3…3 Pisces totally mismatched in looks haha but so connected on a soul level:) Thank you for everything, always, everyday,

As always, the music, words, and voice are taking me on an amazing journey through your imagination. I had only glimpsed a few details before, but I never imagined how it would turn out when put together. This was so much fun! I even got to be some kind of nature spirit or a ghost or hallucination maybe… so cool! Always count me in for future projects. ❤

    Hugs!

amazing! 🥳 delightful 🤗 thanks for the trippiness, the journey into wonder, the “doing the right thing” through a moral & heartful deeply realized choice🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼 kudos, soulkin!😘

    • Awwww soulkin yes very trippy was this tale and also the process making it. Even my actors had no idea how it would all look stiched together as we were sailing, dancing, doing everything against enormous sky high “Blue Screens” blue not green because the swamp has much green foliage. I’m glad you enjoyed their change of heart…I too actually lived that process, coming to the realization..there could be no other ending:) Talk soon and thank you dear soulkin:)

Wow, it is a little overwhelming to watch this exceptionally vivid, multichromatic, and suspenseful Second Life movie, which has an essential message about nature, its beauty, and how we are part of something precious. We watched it with these incredible speakers we bought, sat back with coffee, and enjoyed the show. What a precious gift that painting is from your grandson, a talented painter. It was the perfect beginning to this adventure to find the “Midnight Loon” – not seen for 200 years. Three sisters are looking for a bird in the mangrove, which the newspaper offers a reward. Karima, the stars and sounds as you three float down the river with the fantastic plants and colors are dazzling. We loved the bright red mushrooms and the frog sitting on the mushroom with his tongue sticking out. Scott said you had a fairy circle of little mushrooms. Loved that you all ate the mushrooms and had a bit of a trip while doing so with nature. Wavy grass – the water creatures that looked like ghosts of children drawn and how you all danced in the swamp water with them. Loved the music, by the way. With all the sounds, it was just captivating. Loved the camping and the fire dance and the colors in the sky that looked like fireworks because you had all been indulging in getting “higher than kites,” but still no loon in sight. The way you all began to hear the Loon the next day was a cool part of the movie because the sky was so beautiful, all the plants and gorgeous flowers, and finally, the Loon with her baby on her back. All so touched by this sight that you all held hands and cried. You know this movie is well-timed because I saw a post yesterday about the number of animals that are on the endangered list, and more and more creatures are disappearing. This is so sad to me, and I wonder if by 2050, there will be any animals that are not in cages. By the way I loved how you all snuck that river whale in there and what a smooth transition with it surfacing and then going back into the swamp. Scott loved the “Frog Rain Dance.” The meaning behind the movie is so important. You all experienced an amazing adventure with nature, seeing things you may not have seen if you had not set out motivated by the reward. Then you all decided never to tell anyone, including the waiting reporter, anything you had seen. You knew it was more important to leave nature intact than it was for any reward. I love nature. It is a big part of everything I do, especially in my writing. One of the visual things I truly enjoyed was the yellow and purple lilies in the background, along with what appeared to be large cypress trees, which are magnificent trees. I like how you had the people at the tables, some with frogs on them, all on the bridge you all danced by while the credits passed by. I will be forever amazed at how these are put together and all the work that it takes to make a twelve-minute movie like this. It was interesting to me, just how many people are involved in a project like this The narration was superb as always and the music we both just loved. A big thanks to Dale Innis and, of course, your three sissies and the extra actors. Mr. Ottobre for the real garden pictures and Sebastian Valverde, your extremely handsome grandson. You certainly put on a lot of hats in this amazing movie. Scott and I both give it a five-star thumbs up. Congratulations on this beautiful film Karima. Love Joni and Scott

    • Ohhh my Wow 😮 what an incredible comment and the fact that you and Scott awarded me a “5 Star Review” just makes the time even more well-spent making this movie. I think I told you when we talked, it all started from one piece I composed on Garage Band and felt like it was more part of a bigger soundtrack..well now it IS!! 🙂 The fact my Fish Sissies jumped on the idea and commited to somertimes hours of shooting and reshooting….and yet laughed and made it so much fun to do this is another big special gift given to me to realize my dream. Without them, there is no movie and without Dale there are no boats sailing smoothly down the canal or 3 sisters doing their wacky dance together as they move right into credits. My other extras (Dale was fishing and brought his pet frog to have coffee on the bridge:) Luna and Joey are people who have been in so many of our movies, because they are so willing,,,and this goes all the way back to when Nat & I were The Team.

Thank you so much for watching and leaving this personalized review of how it touched you both and what you took from the message:) I know how much you love Nature Joni…and always surround yourself with it wherever you live..I thought of you so many times while filming this and I know the very real sounds had to bring back many memories.
Thank you both again so much. This comment has made me smile and feel so inspired. It’s wonderful to know I could touch both with my passion.. Virtual Machinima.,.. Virtual Moviemaking!!
Many hugs and my best wishes and prayers for you both,

It was our pleasure dear friend. We truly enjoyed it. I will never understand all the complexities of second life but Scott and I really enjoyed the entire movie so much. We kept seeing things and having to stop the movie so we could get a better look. Scott saw the frog right away on the mushroom and I told him the story about it. We had a lot of fun and found it very entertaining. You must get so close to all these people working so hard for weeks to put something so intricate together with people all over the world. Thank you Karima, we had a blast watching it and really enjoyed your beautiful soundtrack too. Big hugs and lots of love from the both of us. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you so much, Karima, for taking me on a delightful trip! I watched it full till the end, so captivating. Apart from actors and overall visuals, what appealed me most was your voice creating its own impact with ascent and descent. You’re just awesome, a multi-talented personality. • Ohh Kaushal you watched it til the end!!! Thank for letting me take you with us on this wild ride to find a loon at midnight:)
Thank you so much for what you said about my narration…believe me I worked on that a lot and the plot itself twisted and changed while we were shooting it.. Interestig how a movie, much like writing a story will just stand up for itself and say, “No! I would not do that!” and that’s when the sissies became conscious, if they took her photo, they would be selling her out and the poor loon would never have peace again:) I hope you enjoyed the music too…I had so much fun creating it!! Thank you for your wonderful comment!!

    • So glad you loved how it all turned it…it’s always a surprise (even for me, who is picking and choosing backgrounds in the post-production stage.. It was a fun project and speaking of Nat, one of my most ambitious since I lost her. Haha I am sure she would find some little detail to critisize, but yes, I too think she would have enjoyed. Dale’s scripting prowess is legendary and for me was very exciting to attempt this scope of a movie on LINC in SL…Hopefully it will be the first of many big productions there:) Hugs…Love that close up of you at the table as we bop by hehe..Lookin good:) Thank you for leaving this great comment!! 🤩

  17. I think I told you before: but I like how you get out of your comfort zone in your art and take chances and also go wherever you feel inspired to go with it. Every piece feels like it’s coming from your soul, and that only you could make it. That’s what makes your work so engaging!
