I can’t self mute my voice….forever
I’m choking on the inside
Who blinded my eyes…
so I can’t see this horror show reality?
It strains to come out anyway
It pushes through
and tears burn and drop..
I take the gag from my mouth and also repeat
his words..
“ sometimes I feel like this is not real life – that this can go on and this degree of suffering is allowed to happen in this world.”
Please wake me from this nightmare..
Far away is not far enough
To lose my humanity.
There is no “out of sight out of mind”
If this is real life?
I prefer an alternative please…
one much more sane and humane
where the innocents no longer suffer
all day… every day…
all day…every day!

I find myself at a loss for words. I grew up in a world that was learning about the atrocities of the holocaust and how there were so many pledges that nothing like it should never happen again. Now we see before our eyes the whole scene being repeated, human life is treated as unimportant and there is no atrocity that is seen as unacceptable. It is as if people have rejected the idea of humanity, rejected love and compassion, and now want to be part of a world founded on hate. The very powers that were supposed to prevent a reoccurrence of such tragedy are now the ones financing and egging on this conflict. The United Nations, as many of us suspected, has been shown to be powerless in such a situation. I pray for all those who are caught up in conflict, innocent people who deserve protection. The real faces of evil do not have horns, they wear suits, they have no interest in others, they cling to a concept called power that has no value in itself and thus regards other people of no value. We need to reject this path and seek a better way forward where all are seen as equal, with equal rights, and need to show compassion and love to all of our fellow beings.

How sadly this resonates and how it makes my heart ache for the footprint of the times we are living in. There are days when I feel so helpless, all I can do is write.

It is too much, soul destroying and shockingly wrong … but arms sales are up, usa is back from the brink and such slaughter is quietly condoned 😦
