A Pirate Story
This ship you see
bears the name  My Lost Beauty
I did not name her idylly
after it became mine…
I gave her the only name
that she could possibly be
knowing how she came to me.

I survived because of the blessing,
I was the only one to believe,
if I stood each day break
when the Goddess Turina
came up from the depth and showered
her blessing over me.

My ship came to me in the time
of the boiling Corona Seas,
when sailors one by one succumbed
to this  invisible dreadful disease
all the fish dried up  in the sea and the pirates died
and I was left alone, to enjoy the spoils of plunder
The buildings and businesses now empty
I was left all of this ..everything the eye can see
but in someways I was  left with nothing

It became meaningless all of it,
too many memories, when everywhere
was filled with life, now death had silenced
all the joy, the good pirates and the bad
all cut down equally..until I was the only one
who still sailed these poisoned lifeless  seas,
I took pleasure in beauty..
in  my hands I gathered seeds
from all the islands near & far  and planted them
reveling in their color, they were Nature’s Art
come to comfort me. This and the feeling of the winds
opening the sails, was the only thing that could comfort me.

Here at the Pirate’s Pub
I  saw the best come & go
the drinking and song
the fights and the truce’s made
with  the hair of their mustache
and a handshake.
It saddens me to even be here
So I set out to sail the deadly Corona Sea
Maybe I too will succumb..
but that’s a prayer I keep to myself.

At one time, in the best of times
I had someone by my side
someone who understood me
someone so very like me
and we shared our hopes
and when the plague poisoned the seas
we shared our fear  of uncertainty
and the last place she was alive
is where I live our memories .

Bonny Brave, Captain of  the ship I sail.
The only other woman Pirate
I had the chance to meet.
Who bequeathed me her ship before her death
and who I named on her final  deathbed
“My Lost Beauty.”
and who will  always sail with me
I receive my blessing from  Turina
to stay alive and journey these lifeless seas
not for myself or fear of death
but to keep alive ….her memory.

  3. Karima, thank you for sharing your latest video! I’m really looking forward to checking it out. The idea that you were a pirate in a past life sounds really exciting. The story of the ship “My Lost Beauty” sounds fascinating and I am sure that you tell it in a very special way. I find the passage about the “boiling Corona seas” and the loneliness you experienced as the last survivor particularly touching. It’s impressive how you connect this dark time with the metaphor of being a pirate. Despite all the external treasures, it seems that the feeling of emptiness and isolation has left a deep impression. I’ll definitely be watching it in full screen and 4K to enjoy the best details.

Karima, I wish you all the Best!

    • Hello dear Rosie from Germany and thank you for your generous viewing and comment too. I love how you dove into the ambiance, the plague and the last survivor, with everything and yet empty…with nothing. Your comment is just wonderful Rosie and spurs me on to trust my insticts and keep telling stories (no matter how offbeat or unexpected they may be.

I wish you always the best too.

You are such a talented artist and you share your beauty with us all.

  10. Thank you again. The genre of machinima is a small niche…using live actors(avatars) and not animation. I find it fascinating to work in:)
