The Return of Humanity

Fruits, Flowers & Trees by Dale Innis on Midjourney AI Art

To the Music of Akoviani “Abstract” my reading of  the poem

The Return of Humanity

On the other side of that cloud bank
I think I see a rainbow
could it be, that changes will come down
for me… for all of Humanity.

I think that the universe has bigger faith
in us than I can see.
Pulling me up on my tippy toes, it injects me
with a bright vision of flowers and peace,
of hope in our compassion, of  bringing
back the word, humane to mean kind,
of setting aside greed
to take each other’s hand
and pull ourselves out of the grave
we are digging ourselves in….
every day.

We could trade in all the war machines
all the bombs, the bullets,  the
drones of death.. for seedlings and trees.
Can you imagine the changes that would bring?
No war , anywhere in the world,
just fruits, flowers and trees….
and the return of Humanity.

Ante tantos frentes abiertos en el mundo donde la vida no vale nada, se habré un frente de esperanza a nuevo concepto de paz y felicidad con tu poema. Una maravillosa composición Karima.

A treat to visit and thank you for the touching response. ✨ I began dreaming of this type of world, as a child with my little poet soul. Not much has changed with me in that regard. It is a blessing to connect with other poets and creative souls. 💕🙏🏻

    • Ohhh Cindy thank you so much for what you say here. I know how you are feeling at the moment too…and It’s always better to dream and keep the hope. Our world, wars and all is the way it is because we have accepted it as normal…but there is nothing normal about now…I still can dream and pray for an alternative plan..an alternative future. Big Hugs Cindy..🤗🙏🤗

  13. If only it could happen. But ALL people have to agree, not just a few. It’s the bad apples in the world who make it hard for the rest of us.

  14. This comment is from my dearest friend an amazing artist Jan Betts, who has problems logging into WordPress:

“this poem so beautifully states what we all ( most of us ) want. We are so fortunate to live in a peaceful, biologicaly rich environment… where we do plant trees and flowers…and they flourish everywhere. And we learn to plant our food organicly, and share that knowledge….so the chemicles are no longer in our food. The country is learning this. The local Tico community as well as the foreign community that has come here to live that utopian dream…. And share with each other the knowledge and sensitivity of the plant world. Hand in hand we make changes.”

    • Jan, you have stated it so beautifully and in many ways Costa Rica has the potential to be one of the first countries, where this dream could possiblly come true. We were both aware when we moved here back in the early 1970’s that Costa Rica had abolished the army (all military) in 1948. This was a big + in our thinking and although now in 2025 we just take that fact for granted, we can see how not having to feed and keep up a war machine has freed funds for say education(Costa Rica has one on the highest percentages of literacry in the area (98.04%) and we have a health system and that has been cited and admired as also one of the best in Latin America. I am proud to be Costa Rican and seeing what has been accomplished here, by abolishing the military has let me dream further past our borders.
Thank you Jan for this comment…you bring up what is actually happening right now in our progressive and unique country!!

Dale, I loved your work, the music you picked Karima, and your narration are always a beautiful treat.

    humane to mean kind,
    of setting aside greed
    to take each other’s hand
and pull ourselves out of the grave
    we are digging ourselves in….
    every day.

We must always hold to hope for those who believe in a power greater than themselves perhaps they can pray. We will never all agree on anything. Even fashion is something that people argue about and stress about. Is not the wonderful world you describe worth dreaming of, visualizing, and also praying for or thinking of gratitude and light, even if you don’t believe there is anything after earth? Alhamdulillah

Our earth will not heal itself either without changes, which have a lot to do with greed. I love this beautiful world, and believe I will live in such a world when this world is gone, or perhaps before.

I have tried very hard not to watch TV or read about what is going on in the US either but I can not get on my computer without continuous notifications going across my screen. It is hard not to be concerned right now if you live in the US and especially if you are a women. I pray for our world, thank you for this lovely piece Dale and Karima. Alhamdulillah.

    • Ohh Joni, I never saw this beautiful comment..I’n so sorry. I know the time you put into leaving me all your impressions and I feel so bad, I missed seeing this, until today. Thank you for your honest reflections Joni…we live in such turbulent critical times…some drastic changes for the good need to take place if we will be able to preservar our planet and life on it. Big hugs to you Joni and thank you dear friend for this comment.
