Happy Solstice to all:):)
Wow This year has whizzed by!!
Solstice for me represents a homecoming of sorts..homecoming of my bird family!!
They all are assembled here, in moderate temperatures, eating all the bananas and papayas they can hold and still fly. They have been returning home since October (my window ledge) and a Palm tree few meters away where they will stay, warm and fed until March. Then one day they will be gone, those Baltimore Orioles, Summer Tanagers, House Wrens, will take off again to New York, Massachusettes, Tennessee, all points north in the USA..and we will miss them and we will sing this song..until they return in October 2025.
To the music “Fly Mama.” a song I co-wrote with our lead singer, Dennis D’Sauro (who sings it).. this is how I spend my Winter Solstice.. admiring the miracle that are migratory birds..all together again on my window ledge.
Maybe you have someone flying home for the holidays too:)
Here is the whole song if you’d like to hear it. Warning!! It’s very catchy:)
I wrote the music and the chorus (Fly Mama)
and Dennis wrote all the verses and in this version sings it too. In another version, now lost, I did a mean harmony on the chorus:):)
Enjoy and Happy Solstice…Happy Holidays to Everyone!!
