just let it go
Shrug
for B.
Oh well…just let it go
it might be a poem
it might be a song
it might be a lesson
we just never know
When the bad things rock our world
When love is lost
When what meant so much
can no longer be touched
and we don’t care enough
Oh well…just let it go
it might be a poem
it might be a song
it might be a lesson
we might never know
When we knew a language
just for us
Then forgot how to speak it
when times got rough
and no translator was enough
so we never tried to call our bluff
Oh well…just let it go
it might be a poem
it might be a song
it might be a lesson
we may never know
When time invested never paid out
in memories
When so much future turned into past
so surprising ‘n quickly
When I don’t think of you
and you don’t think of me
Oh well…just let it go.
it might be a poem
it might be a song
it might be a lesson
we can hope to know

Thanks Steve for your take on it….and for everything:)

Yes, I love how this is both sad and wise, a bad idea and a good idea. The big challenge is exactly not to be too attached to ephemeral things (i.e. everything), but also not be detached…

Very cool perspective Dale and as you said, one of the many human challenges we seem to face in our passage here. Thank you for this wise view of my poem.

I always worry when Karima writes these kinds of poems. But it expresses, not sadness… but just a sentiment that needed to be brought out into the light of day. Hugs you tight, dear one. Thank you for sharing what clearly needed to be shared. With your beautiful words, we catch a glimpse of your heart. ❤

Oh don’t worry Shesa;):) Sometimes we poets get inspired by just a simple little conversation(which was this case) I am a nostalgic..so yes the poem is a bit in irony, but also. the need to let go of things is very healthy too..The trick is to know when…and how:)
Hugss my friend

Yes! Awesome use of that refrain. Sometimes you don’t know what it will be until it’s done, but you just have to go toward it anyway. Really nicely written.
