Bolero

Bolero

It’s not the dance; it’s never the dance, but who is dancing.
The connection takes place outside the steps, not within.
Still, the gliding graceful turns and pauses, the taut hesitation,
help the magic weave a moment never lost in time or memory.

We don’t remember the order, but who held the lead.
We don’t remember the words of the song, or the hour.
But we do acquiesce, to that gentle, insistent persuasion,
that invites us to move in grace and rhythm across the floor.

The dance, that great metaphor for life and love itself,
does strive, if not to absolute perfection, than nearly so.
When everything is just right, we are left breathless by its beauty
We go dizzy in its sync and twirl, as we fall into heart-stopping love.

We don’t remember the order, but who held the lead.
We don’t remember the words of the song, or the hour,
But we do acquiesce, to that gentle, insistent persuasion,
that invites us to move in grace and rhythm across the floor.

  3. Your intpretation of the Dance as in the flow of life, I love dancing the rhythm and music just flow. Ah the Bolero inspires passion for life and the leader, the one who guides us in our unique dance, the Light, Our Heavenly Father places us on the platform to dance. This is reminding me how to manifest my passion, enthusiasm and inspiration for life as it seems to hit a low.

Another masterpiece! I think this poem is the perfect metaphor for falling in love with someone and all the swirling emotions that well up as in motion by the dancers here. You convey the power-the intensity-the overwhelming rapture. Is this dancing? Is it actually falling in love? Is this the dance of a spiritual connection? Is this just another Saturday night? I think not. I can’t dance and can barely walk now. But I remember the thrill of new love-and this captures that perfectly. Love is a dance. The motion of love. The spinning and twirling. The Bolero!

    • Ronald, I think your comment is a poem in itself. At some point, the dance and the dance of love have such blurred lines, they can be one in the same, if chemistry is present.
Otherwise..a dance is just a dance. For anything we do to reach a higher plane, we need to believe in magic:):) Thank you dear friend, for this beautiful comment!

The Magic continues! How you can take such simple concept as a dance and turn it into a cosmic metaphor for our being, is simply amazing, Thank you my Ruca for always making us think and ponder.
