More About The Poet

Now you know a bit more about this poet….

I have a cat and a black piano, a piano and cat are part of me.
Both are important for my soul, for my need to touch, to create and love,
to pull myself out of me and lift off into a kinder realm,
where all cats are taken care of and pianos are played by people who love them,
Both need care and both reward me, for remembering..
My cat sits above me, feeling the vibrations of the keys,
lightly touched or stroked deeply,
her purrs adjust to the sounds, as the photos on the mantle shudder.
We are approaching a harmony, the kind where her purrs resonate
and the keys respond to every wave and we are riding it now,
a wave of sound and soft fur, and inspiration, and just to hold it this way,
I slow the pace and lighten the line and pianissimo is now her yawn.
The reassuring pedal sustains, the loveliest phrases, my cat closes her eyes.
My well- fed cat, allows herself to doze off to a well-tuned piano,
as I play the last note and she falls sound asleep.
Now, this exact moment, where we connected; this moment…
is what happiness is for me.

Ahh.. Beautiful words, Karima. I felt as if you were playing right here in front of me!! I, too used to go into a trance when I played the Piano. Then, the keys touched my soul. Now, writing does it… Stay blessed my dear… And keep playing.🤗🤗 ❤️🙏💐💐

    • Thank you Jeff..was just a real life moment, I felt I had to capture in a few words..Like drawing a sketch,,, ahh vibration..yes I do use and am conscious of vibration, in my life..I guess we poets have that sensitive fine -tuned antenna that some say is a curse and a blessing but for me, is always a blessing:) Thank you friend do sharing your thoughts on this one.

You’re welcome, Karima. Always my pleasure. Ah, yes, sensitivity and vibration. A lovely combination, which, you are right, some see as a curse. I, like you, am not one of them. My sensitivity is a wondrous gift. Have a great week! 🙂

I wonder Karima, how you can write seamlessly about things so beautifully and effortlessly, love this so much as always I do ❤️❤️❤️
Reading it gave me solace and such peace by your words and happiness that you received even though you know I am dead scared of cats 🙂 but I.an so very well connect to your connection. ❤️🤗❤️ Sending love and hugs habeebity

    • Awww habeebity..”dead scared” of cats is a lot!! Smiles..well maybe seeing one so innocently enjoying music and falling asleep..will make you a little less afraid of our feline friends..When I lived in Jordan, like everyone else, I fed all the stray cats, although homeless, looked really well fed! Then I started bringing them home, and my husband said..”Nope>>feed in the streets not in the home” soo that was the end of my cat taming days :):) `I love you could connect to this piece even with a cat in it..Big hugs for your bravery and generosity, to even try:):) 🙏🤗❤️

Aah may be😀 Am really scared to tell you that, a story behind it actually!! Yeah lots of cats here too in the parking lot and I have to run to get inside the car and top of that my little one is crazy for cats, he loves them soo much that he runs after to catch and hold them, 😁
I don’t like it though but having strict instructions from my husband to stay quiet and not let my fear for them transfer to my son. 😊
Anyways, Lovely poetry Karima like always❤️🤗❤️

  8. LaDonna, thank you so much for your reply..and I agree with you.. for sure..connection is what I seek.. with fellow humans and also in our animal kingdom..I love birds too and have a deep relationship with them.while they are free..Sometimes , when I play the piano, the Baltimore Oriole will sing his song, right on my window ledge:) it happens too often to be coincidence:)

You, cat and piano in perfect harmony as the photos shudder. So lovely! So descriptive! I don’t believe a poem like this has ever been written. I’m glad you’re playing again. Keep playing and writing. We need you!

  11. Music is a balm in and often dark and terrifying world. The picture goes well with the words. A cat and a piano. Far removed from the grey blackness of the greater reality the other side of the door.

    • Yes, nice to escape into them both at times..the cat and the piano:) Thank you so much for visiting my blog, and commenting:) The greater reality is just on the other side of the door. Thank you, for coming through it 💐
