The Cold Road (Lyrics)

Slide1

The Cold Road

You broke my heart, even though you didn’t want to.
I know you love me, just maybe not in ways that I do.
Without intention, you said some things that hurt me.
My heart is fragile, it comes apart too easily.

These are thoughts that come and go, when I walk down the Cold Road.
Without a heart to beat, each day for me, is just another heavy load.
The birds are calling out, because they’re about to fly away tomorrow;
Wish I’d be going with them, and find somewhere that’s kinder with less sorrow.

You think I’m needy and no longer stand up on my own,
No longer fun, am becoming one more burden you bemoan.
I don’t mean to add on, to all the eyes that watch you in your day,
I’d close mine forever, in the hope that you won’t up and go away.

I seem to be the last one, to know what you are thinking.
We are so different and I forget that when I’m sinking.
I feel bad now, that I didn’t see the truth or tried to hide it,
another foolish soul, blinded by love, that’s so one-sided.

These are thoughts that come and go, when I walk down the Cold Road.
Without a heart to beat, each day for me, is just another heavy load.
The birds are calling out, because they’re about to fly away tomorrow;
Wish I’d be going with them, and find somewhere that’s kinder with less sorrow.

    • Aww thank you Jeff for your great comment..and my first comment on this one. I was thinking no one knew what to say about this…but you did!!! My son is a musician, has a group and I was thinking he might put the music to it.. a sort of country, folky, balad type of feel.. If we do it..I will post it!! Thank again Jeff for your wonderful support! 🙏❤️🤗🌺

        You’re very welcome, Karima. Always. Ah, yes, usually I am not the first, yet am honored to be so this time! Oh, set to music, that would be wonderful! I hope to reread and listen to that soon. Have a lovely week, Karima. 🙏🌺❤️😊

    • Thanks Dale..I’m not there in my life..but I have been. Just trying to capture that feeling of deep sadness, when you realize you might be in a one-sided affair. I do think many of us might have been there too..sad to say. Glad you found it worthy. I’d like to put some piano behind it,,,and see how it comes out:)

  3. That is beautiful, Karima! I love the lyrics and and the atmospheric, sad and mysterious photo too.
    Wonderful, because both complement each other to create a tense situation.. You are so talented, and such an inspiration! 😊😊🌹🌹

    • Hi Rosie! Thank you for your wonderful comment about these lyrics that in the end pushed me out of my comfort zone, and made me make the YouTube you also reviewed.
      I loved the photo too a composite I put together, and knew I had to find images for the film, that would give that same feeling..that “tense situation” you describe. Why thank you so much for your enthusiasm…and back at you, about the talent..I love you Art..I will be back visiting soon Rosie..
      Blessings to you,
