Repossessed
(A frightening thought for Halloween)
I’ve considered this before..
if all is merely rented here
(a truth that I’ve already seen)
then even my creativity
can be cancelled on the spot
and is subject to be sent elsewhere
if I don’t use it, when it comes to me.
If I put it aside until another day
another hour, a better mood
after I eat, or sleep or watch TV
but then some day, I could receive
a double knock upon the door
“I’m here to collect your creativity.
it’s obvious you don’t use it anymore.”
I believed, in error, it would still be there
tomorrow, or the next, forever and a day.
I presumed it exclusively mine to use,
or abuse; let the moss grow on my frontal cortex,
I never read the fine print clause in hindsight

use it, you lose it and therefore.. all creative rights”

Oooh, spooky in the very practical sense. 🙂 I really resonate with your thought that everything is just rented (contra the theory of intellectual property, ownership, etc. This is a great take on the scary aspects, for Hallowe’en.
I do hope that the Muses will let one get aware with a certain amount of lazy breaks from creating, for my own sake. 🙂

Ahhh thanks so much Jeff, was a bit tongue in cheek but yes like Menubar says above, our creativity is like a muscle;it does need to be exercised…and it is truly a gift, never to be looked at as something guaranteed but always with gratitude and humility. thanks for the good reminder to always, always be grateful for the beauty, inspiration & positive expression that can make it through the multiple distractions of the outer & inner world into actual manifestation. the whole writing process is a bit of a miracle actually. it is certainly wise to appreciate it while it’s there, & to be faithful to that inner urge to express the urgent (yet ephemeral) somehow!

Yes! and as always, I love how you say it:) I agree that the whole writing process like all forms of creativity is truly a miracle…and a gift..I believe our only “obligation” is to recognize it, use it and be grateful:) The repossession is just another word for prolonged writer’s block….and that can happen:) ❤️🤗🧛🏻♀️🎈
