Golden

Golden

Illustration”Golden” by Dale Innis on Midjourney AI

Touched by Midas, he sold his crypto just in time
bought a factory with his profit and made the workers go offline.
In the empty lot he sells potted plants, frosted with organic dye,
decorated with little sun-charged led -lights; they go like hot cakes,
easy on the eye and environment; golden coins rain on him from the sky.

So smooth and gold, everything he touches, begins to look like him.
He hides his eyes behind pastel shades so you can’t see, what you can guess.
If you try to speak to him with truth, don’t bother, it’s a wasted act,
The bottom line, that vibrates inside his mind, honestly he couldn’t care less.

A profile cut in granite stone, a chin to build a city on; he’s hard and cold.
Bouillon’s not a soup for him it’s what he buys to stack his assets all in gold
He never sweats, his golden sheen, glows in sun and moonlight equally
He’s never had a doubt about how he sees the world: it’s his to have and hold.

Perfect table manners, he can choose the flowers and the music, order wine.
The correct knot on a tie can catch his eye, he’s witty, worldly but never kind.
He has a backstage pass, front stage box-seats, first row of every balcony
He’s Golden. His heart’s not made of flesh & blood; it’s a 24 karat time piece.

Ach, a great character study; you are really on a roll! Success (of a kind) just lights on certain people, deserving or not. Golden!

Omg Karima! The detail in every line and the way each line comes together is so amazingly done! You blow me away with your talent every single piece. I love the story you told about this guy and the way you brought the image to life with your deep/specific imagery. Just amazingly done as always, dear friend!!! You are golden 😉🤗🤍🤗🤍

    • Awww thank you so much Grace…he just seemed to be egging me on to try and describe him.. Once again, an enigmatic illustration from Dale pushed me past my laziness to write again. It seems I have become a very ekphrastic poet and imagery has become my continual source of inspiration:)Thank you once again for such a positive, comment on the end product! ❤️🌹❤️

the character is brilliantly brought to life by his written history. the image really pulled you into it to get so much depth & detail 👁️👁️ i like that aura of strangeness, & the metallic sheen that brings one to alertness, never mind the pretty colors! lots of snakes are beautiful: be warned! 🌹🌹🌹

    • Your last line is so true, ” lots of snakes are beautiful: be warned! ” Luckily this person in real life, even much less golden, would not catch my eye. The sheen and blue highlighting makes it a beautiful image, but digging a bit deeper than color, as someone said here, there’s a narcissist inside. Ohhh, that is sooo not my type:) The illustration caught my eye..but what he represented caught my imagination:) Thank you dear J. for commenting on this one. ❤️🦋🎈🌟

  6. Rather sadly much of what you describe is actually admired in the world we live in. Great piece of forceful writing and a good piece of art for illustration as well. Hope that you have a great festive season.

    • Oh, you’ve made a great point David, and yes very sad, but I do think there is hope in the newer generations to scrap that worship of the $$ and consider the whole planet and its survival..People like him are not as popular in the world at the moment. They are a dying-off breed I believe. Maybe I am too optimistic:) Thank you for this great comment.

He sold his crypto in time. Yes, we know now what has happened to crypto. An intelligent guy. Loved this piece from the very first line and was hooked throughout. A lovely piece Karima, as always 😊💖

  8. Thanks Kaushal…he had that Midas Touch!! The illustration hooked me, once again, from first sight. So glad you enjoyed where I ran with it..this was a fun one to just let the muse do the writing..while I observed:)🌹❤️

Awesome creation Dale, and you described him so aptly Karima … I’ve met this guy and the presentation is perfect but the heart is absent!

Wishing you seasonal greetings and may 2023 endow you both with good health and continuing creativity 🙂
