Your Midas Touch
Fingers strumming my open window pane…
I know how it works…You are coming in, whether I invite you or not.
You have the last word at 6am, when you slip into my room
and your light changes absolutely everything.
I am not a morning person, per se,
ahh but you wake me up with just a beam on my face;
I hear you whisper on the dawning of the day
“Look what I can do..See that drab wall above your lamp,
musty old picture frames, dark oils, so unexciting and bleak
I turn them into treasures;
I am the sun and now I’m here to show you,
what you miss all the other days of the week, so fast asleep.
Look how nothing is the same…it was your room,
but now its mine for just a few short minutes of the day
and everything I touch turns to gold.
Everything I’ve shone upon, takes its value far beyond.
I am the original light and you live, because I exist.
You swoon when you see me color your wall.
just because I can, it’s what I do..and this hour
I am a bit subdued, I paint in the Old Master’s Way.

Yet, both you and I know it comes from me.
I captured your seahorse as it floated by (did you see?)
Everything you see, I see and I change it with my light.
Rejoice! This show is just for you
My audience of one and now my time is almost done.
Beauty like this… disappears as quickly as it came
and I move above your window frame….
But, if you are awake…I might be back tomorrow.

Smiling..I love that..”my morning lover” Well today I felt him like Rembrandt, full of mysterious light and shadowing:) It really took my breath away and only lasted a few minutes…and poof.. gone! Thanks so much Kate for listening and commenting.🌹

The sun is one God I have no doubts about. It’s divinity is here for all of us to see and feel. And yet so few of us do that consciously. Done that way, you’re sure to come out with words like these. And then the very words can illuminate you, soothe you. That’s what this poem has done to me, dear Karima. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing a sliver of your morning with us all. And must say, your wall is something to look at 🙂

Ohhh hello my friend…🤗 How wonderful to see you and your comment is so warm and inspiring..I have missed them and yes, the Sun god showed me all his artistic glory for about 5 minutes until he moved up out of sight. I was mesmerized…I was hypnotized and all I could do was grab my camera and get a shot before the “miracle” faded away. Oh I am glad my tropical sunbeam reached over and shone down upon you too.That is the beauty of sunlight…it’s for absolutely everyone:) Hope you will let me see what you’ve been up to soon too.
