Waiting For You”  by Dale Innis on Midjourney AI Art

Chance Encounter

So the first thought in my mind

when I walked through the door was…

“Wow what are you doing here?”

“What are you doing without your scarf on?”

“What are you doing without yours? she said

and we laughed as if cued by the director.

We laughed and she handed me her fortune cookie

“Let’s see how our luck is today, she said

teasingly, impishly,

her eyes giggling with laughter,

tears in the corners.

“You know I’m dead.” she said matter-of-factly.

“Of course I do,” I sighed remembering,

“I held your hand when you took

your last breath.”

“So what are you doing here then?

I asked again, wondering now if I were dreaming.

Your friend prompted me to take shape

The funny thing was, he didn’t really want a face

like mine; he was trying for something else.

“Prompted you?” I asked curious to know what she meant.

“Yes, AI Art, it’s the latest thing for us who passed over.”

“It’s a door to be seen once more”

“Wow, I had no idea!! How fascinating!”

But, if we don’t get framed, we will fade back quickly.

“Could I just hug you?

Why don’t you just frame me

and take me home and have me forever?

And I did.

I love the idea that the afterlife (and who knows what other worlds!) are slipping back to talk to us via the AIs. 🙂 Happy to have provided the pathway for her to show up and say hello! And to inspire this little gem of a poem.

    • Awww thank you Joey:) It certainly would be pretty cool:):) At least I am going to have her printed on canvas and hung in my house. She really called out to me:) and I knew I must bring her here:) So glad you enjoyed it:)

  4. Karima,

Your poem’s a trip, blending laughs, memories, and a touch of the supernatural. The chat about scarves and the matter-of-fact “I’m dead” moment are so intriguing. The idea of AI Art for the afterlife? Super cool. And framing and hugging for eternity? That’s both heartwarming and a bit eerie.

    • Big smiles, you nailed it David! There Is a lot going on but as I have explained in some replies, I was not expecting to see someone conjured up with prompts and shotcuts and weirds directions by Dale that I Knew, Remembered and Loved. Dale said, “I see she is not what we are looking for ( we started a new project similar to The Klara Trilogy but based off of my blog series The Colored Dreams and I saw he was right, but I just fell in love with this image..and like automatic writing..I wrote what I saw:)as soon as we we hung up:):) I love when things like this happens..Thanks so much for your observations and yes..don’t worry, hugging the painting would be weird..I promise to only talk to it hahahha:) not weird at all….*giggles

  6. Aww thanks so much Cindy! I feel I had little to do with it:) These words just flowed out of this image:) After I read it over, I thought what a bizarre concept, I would have never come up with on my own..but yes Umahmad came alive again in this beautiful image that so reminds me of her. I’m really glad you found it intriguing:)
