Our 50 Year Milestone in Costa Rica

50 years ago yesterday (September 19th) was my daughter and my 50th anniversary in
Costa Rica. We came for an indefinite time…and wound up spending a lifetime here!!
We drove down from Los Angeles and crossed the Nicaragua/Costa Rica border exactly
50 years ago yesterday!
I think I look like a pilot for United Airlines in this shot haha
My daughter, Poett who was 5 at the time, wrote a post yesterday in Spanish, that I will translate:

“September 19th is a very special day… Today marks 50 years since I set foot in Costa Rica. What was a six-month adventure for my mom became our destiny. Just like that, overland, from Los Angeles, 1975. And yes, my mom is quite a character, following the call of her soul that brought us here. Costa Rica was where I was meant to grow up… I’m still here and I’ll stay. This is my country… And the icing on the cake… 18 years later, on September 19th, 32 years ago… my son Sebas was born.”
So Happy Anniversay to us!!  Happy Birthday Sebas! Here’s to another 50 in Costa Rica:):)

  6. Wow! 50 years! I had no idea you’ve been there for so long. It took a lot of courage, Karima, to embark on such an adventure. I’m glad it worked out so well for you.

    Dearest Karima,

You are an amazing woman and a rare talent. Your imagination is displayed with music, lovely poetry and stories, and brilliant colors and scenery. Dale and your sisters (on-line) have played a big part in that journey, too.

A big congratulations to your beautiful daughter and to you both on your anniversary. God works in such mysterious ways. Look at how happy your family is there as well as yourself. Your creativity grew from a bud into an amazing talent and you still have all those amazing memories of your life before Costa Rica.

You are an enigma my friend. I am sending you lots of love and hugs and thanks for sharing your precious photos with us as well. You look so young. What an amazing journey you are still on. Big hugs and lots of love my kind friend.

    • Smiling Big!! Aww well love how you see me and yes Joni, Dale & my Pisces Sisters and others(like yourself) encourage me to always trust my muse:)
” God works in such mysterious ways. Look at how happy your family is there as well as yourself.” Ohh this is so true and one of the reasons both Poett and I wanted to honor this date… It changed all our lives and luckily we are still happy that it did. It was my pleasure to share these photos with you Joni… You see the big picture…and so do I:)
Sometimes surrender is the most pro-active thing we can do… I went against much advice but when we were loaded up and heading south I just knew it was the right thing to do:) Love you Joni… thank you so much for your beautiful comment. 🙏
