Brass Lion Jaws

                                                    Composite image by me:)

Small Note: The music behind my poem, is one I wrote for a YouTube with no lyrics
and had to go to battle with a music company that said it was their music. It was my music (composed on Garage Band) and one of the pieces I most loved and I sent them many proofs…in the end I lost my fight 😦
I removed it from YouTube rather than have it say, someone else wrote the music.
So..here it is on my blog, where no one can mess with me:) It is the background to a word flow that the music inspired, Please listen to it (just click Play) and enjoy!!! I feel I’m “preaching to the choir” 99% of you who read me are poets too:):)

I will put the words in a comment , but I do hope you will listen:):)

  1. Brass Lion Jaws

    I talk to my cats

    I talk to my plants

    I talk to my birds

    I’m not ever lonely

    I’m not ever alone

    I’m a poet

A poet in the  beginning, of her  poem playing music priming the source, tickling the inspiration

in the rhythm, drinking the words that bubble forth…

creating, daydreaming  painting the poetry in hues & blues

a flurry of textures, ideas,  possibilities, a non stop fountain

of words  swirling around, splashing the sides,

spilling onto the ground…everywhere, you look

the room is full to the tippy top dripping wet with possibilities

oh my oh my  is there anything more glorious

than beginning a poem you have yet to know?

with no idea what you are doing, writing,  or

wanting to say until you finish the poem

all is revealed in the reading…?

the proof of the pudding is in the eating

Ohhh so that is what I wanted to say

I had no idea I even felt that way..

Thank you for the magic, for the trick & the gift

to feel the poetry rush through my veins,

lift me off my feet, fly me through the streets.

Thank you for  the honor to surrender and submit

open my  brass lion jaws and let the poetry gush from me flow out

a steam of thought of words too quick

     for my fingers to grasp with a pen;

they spill on the paper, stanzas and verse.

They wet my imagination no time for revision.

I was trying to say that, but then I was

     swept away at that moment

a poet in solitude at the feet of the Tree  of Life

roots in the river head in the sky …

Oh my oh my is there anything more spectacular

than to be called out into the middle of the night?

awakened from sleep  head full of poetry and light

A line two lines must find keyboard paper pen,

write it down before it vanishes  chase it out the door

    until you catch it,

    don’t question  your sanity….

    and write

Thank you for the honor to surrender and submit

Open my  brass lion jaws and let the poetry gush from me,  flow out

a steam of thought of words too quick for my fingers to grasp with a pen

they spill on the paper, stanzas and verse

    I talk to my cats

    I talk to my plants

    I talk to my birds

    I’m not ever lonely

    I’m not ever alone

    I’m a poet

“this poem is so perfect to describe how your inspiration comes to you… your poems are a gift to you… and then you generously share it with us! Your words always carry deep meaning… as always your original music, you voice… and often amazing visuals in your machinimas… always touch us…”

This is true poetry from a true poet. I closed my eyes and let your remarkable voice blend with the music, and it was a joy to experience the entire creation. 11. Wow, Karima! I believe this is one of your best poems. It really spoke to me. And the music is beautiful. I’m sorry you ran into those legal issues with the music company. Keep creating!

    • Thank you so much Dawn and for feeling this way..I can say it’s very authentic as far as my process when I am writing a poem. Thank you too about what you said on false copyright infringements.. It’s happening a lot and many content creators are not using YouTube anymore for this reason.
