Funny how I knew
you would adorn my poem today.
Your one-eyed glance to the side
just caught my attention;
I feel you lightly perched on my cilia
that waves in the breeze of my mind.
I would wait, if I were you,
before
launching your flapping to the sky.
Raptors are gliding and you would be
an awkward easy prey.
Stay with me awhile,
I feel you comforting
as you remind me…
how my mind connects so easily
to you and your species
to you and your manifestation;
you hatched full-plumed
from the mind of my over-active
imagination.
We have so much that joins
and yet
you are of the open skies
and I,
your creator,
expect to be left behind..
It’s fine you know… fly
When the time is right fly
You’ll know it when it comes fly
Now……….. fly
Fly!……………………………….. .. fly

Lovely 🙂 you find the best words in every context. We may be physically on the ground, but your poetry flies!
Thank you so much Ceoln…what a beautiful thing to say. Thank you for stopping by:)
What fun! Thoughts flying like birds, and the excellent typography of those flying “fly”s… So happy if my odd little image helped inspire this!
Awwww Dale thank you so much for enjoying my poem..% 100 inspired by your intriguing wistful bird in a bed of cilia…What you have done and are doing just sparks my poetic mind..Please keep it up:)
Beautiful
Thank you Luna!
Your welcome
Ooooh, this poem blew me away. I especially loved the thought of the word “fly” flying away. Lovely work, Karima!
Ohh thank you so much Joyce:) You know I rarely vary my form in my poems, unlike you..who do it as naturally as breathing…but this poem, just really insisted on that take-off:) So glad you enjoyed it.
Aww, thank you for the high praise, Karima! Each one of us has a unique style, and yours is especially distinctive and strong. Keep smiling. ^_^
This is just beautiful – longing, empathy, connection and spiritual – wish the collective world compassion was more like this. Thank you for the moments I felt when reading xxx
Oh Iris, thank you for this beautiful comment you left for me to find. I am so moved this poem touched you so…🌹
ive been pondering this one for a while. something needed to surface, & it finally did. your goodbye & your express urging to the bird to fly, FLY, is what seems the proper thing to say, but really, underneath, you want the bird to stay with you. it’s dangerous out there: raptors! stay a while longer. dont go.🙏🏼❤️it twangs the plangent soul-strings🙏🏼
So very true J. It’s very similar to sending our children off into the world..the proverbial “leaving the nest” In this case we are also partial creators, invested totally and yet as Kahil Gibran says,
“Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.”
Even with all the dangers lurking in the sky…we must let them fly… It does touch a bitter-sweet chord.❤️🤗❤️
Oh, what a gorgeous poem, Karima. I’m smiling ear to ear, and will take this smile to sleep. I love every word. ❤️🤗
Thank you so much Jeff for this comment..It makes my day to know you took your smile to sleep. I’m always so thankful for your thoughts on my poetry… Blessings to you and have a wonderful weekend!!🙏🦋🤗
What a beautiful poem, Karima! It’s full of love and emotion and the way you weaved it around the word, fly makes me speechless. It’s always a pleasure to read your works.
Thank you so much Kaushal…You know well enough to know I never play with word forms usually…My poems are written straight forward, with not much embellishment…but I must “blame it” on the sweet bird who whispered in my ear..”I want to take off…really take off” *smiles so I just obliged him:)
Hahaha, that whisper really sounds sweet. I like the way you write, feeling is the most important aspect of the poem. Rhyme, rhythm, metre etc are secondary. That’s why I like your poems.
Karima, Karima, Karima !!! to quote your poem…
” I feel you lightly perched on my cilia ” Now you really have my attention !
I did not know this was a X-Rated site girl !!
Your shocked friend ! I am adding Costa Rica to my “THINGS TO DO LIST” !!
Marc
