The Right Thing To Do

The Right Thing To Do

I feel a chill blowing in on the afternoon wind
Time to take score and take notice of things.

Your last words swirl around and around in my head
Maybe I just took them wrong, in my paranoia of dread.

Still it seemed like you were planning a gradual ending
While I was designing a full lifetime of happy memories.

The two of us should sit down and just make sure right now
That we’re on the same page, of the same book, with the same how.

You know when it looks like it’s going to rain, but then the sun comes out?
I’m hoping we just escaped a deluge that could have swept us around ‘n about.

Sometime it’s just better to remind each other, why we are still together
Not by talk talk talking it out, but by sitting holding hands to change the weather.

By just letting ourselves feel the chemistry that drew you to me and me to you
Flower petals fall anointing us and we kiss.. and that was just the right thing to do.

A beautiful portrait of a particular (but pretty universal I’d bet) moment in a relationship. And good advice for handling it. Just let the petals blow! 🙂

Cuando se ha compartido las alegrías y tristezas y se volatiza la relación, a veces necesitamos una canción de cuna para calmar el alma salvaje o el canto de un cuco para aliviar el dolor de la separación. Me encantó tu poema.

  4. A lovely quiet moment it was. Full of depth and meaning. I believe you could make a poem out of just about anything. Life itself, I’m sure, is a poetry to you. That you are able to put it down in words for us, over and over again, is what I admire the most. Beautiful Karima… 🙂
