“Bountiful” by Dale Innis on Midjourney
*(Few things are better than to receive a phone call
from someone in the past and they say,
“Thank you for what you did for me back then, when no one
wanted to intervene, you gave me a hand…”
and 20 30 40 years later, I never forgot you.)*
Even the smallest seeds planted in the ground
can sprout a lifetime memory.
Even some small favor on your part,
could mean the world for the one that did receive.
How hard is it to carry those good deeds
like seeds in your pocket and when you see a need,
just take a few minutes out and plant a tree?.
How difficult might it be, to believe that every selfless
act that you commit, affects those around you in need
and not just for the moment but for eternity?”
Then years later, the fruits of that particular tree
fall into your lap unexpectedly and someone says,
“Thank you again, for way back when, you did that for me.”

Unique feeling of joy to know that that seed or action back then has paid off. That joy is priceless.
Congratulations, friend Karima.

A lovely, and uniquely you, description of a lovely event and feeling.
” Even some small favor on your part,
could mean the world for the one that did receive. ”
Something we all need to remember; thank you!

Yes, just carry those deeds in your pocket and scatter them all around on the ground, and on the wind, just a smile to a shy stranger, is planting them on fertile ground. Thank you so much for the image too..

That is so true Karima. I remember few years back, when i received a package from my former student. The package contained a pair of sandals. And i remember that student was the one whom i gave some amount for allowance just to get through the semester. And i jokingly told her then that if one day you get a good job and you have the money, you know what i want…a shoes..and she said yes. I didn’t realized she’d remember it even years after.

Oh what a wonderful story Mich and yes., isn’t it just the biggest surprise and most wonderful feeling in the world when your sandals arrived? Thank you for sharing your own experience in this area of “gardening for future harvest”

I love this post, Karima. I have realised this happiness. When we plant seeds, it’s for posterity. It’s a deed that gives fruits and shelter to others, who in turn shower their blessings. A lovely piece 👌😊💐

Oh I am sure you have Kaushal, and the wonderful thing is, we don’t realize that is what we are doing..until years later when the bountiful harvest falls in our lap, with an unexpected phone call, or visit, or message out of the blue:) Thank you for your meaningful comment. Much appreciated:) 🙏🌹🙏

Loving the way this wonderful poem brings the planting of the seed back around to full fruit and shows us the meaning and beauty of patience. ❤

Thank you so much Layla…it was just a wonderful surprise that took almost 30 years to see the fruits…but oh my yes patience and also planting seeds without any ulterior motive of harvests, abundant fruit etc, Just doing it because you saw a need…that need is the ground that germinates the seed:):) So glad you vibrated to this one, Layla:) 🍇🍎🍑🍒

Karima, this is such a beautiful reflection on the help we give and the help we receive; in each case, an impression is made; indelible, and perhaps life-giving, and a treasure the recipient holds in their heart forever, regardless of what whether it was silently listening, giving a hug, making a cup of tea, or handing over a considerable wad of cash to help with a debt. Those phone calls we receive of gratitude remembered, they mingle with the ones we make to those who showed us lovingkindness in our times of need… what magical web of love and gratitude we can all weave. Thank you for your post. 🙏

Thank you so much Steve for your own beautiful reflection about selflessly helping someone in need. Many times we are not aware of the fruit that this moment in time might have produced…Ahh but when we are aware…it has the sweetest taste. I love your words:
“what magical web of love and gratitude we can all weave.” That is so true and the earlier we start the better:):) I really enjoyed your comment and your thoughts on this theme.

What a beautiful poem, Karima…it’s more than a poem to me…”Even the smallest seeds planted in the ground can sprout a lifetime memory.”…you’ve such a unique style…only you can write a poem like this…and what a beautiful message you’re conveying…every single drop counts…just like every single & little awed…Bravo, my dear friend for writing this unique piece 💚

Hello dear Navin…so happy to find this comment just now from you. I am thrilled you really loved the idea, well, the truth of this phenomena. Yes every single drop, every single seed scattered on the fertile ground of just selflessly helping somebody.. We are called to do this many times in our life..and each chance helping hand, is never a wasted gesture. Never..You have put it so well and I am so glad you find beauty in this simple message. Thank you again, my friend..❤️

This is a thought that has come up over the millennia in writings, poetry and even the great religious dictate. No one has done a better job than you with these few words Ruca. You’re amazing the way you keep mining your gems from the endless wellspring you have found. This also brought to mind, your idea of currency with a lived one’s name written on it, left on the side of the road, to be found by someone as an unsuspecting reward.
