Enjoy my poem in a spoken word version to my own original music…

Ohh Loo!!!

You don’t wear it well old friend
you don’t wear it well
40 years before, it fit you
now you don’t wear it well.

There was a time you played the lover
and you left those giggling girls disarmed
all the women fell at your feet
you had the looks, you had the charm

You don’t wear it well old friend
you don’t wear it well
40 years before, it fit you
now you don’t wear it well
40 years before, it fit you
now you don’t wear it well.

There is a time for everything
and youth can get away with much
but now you try the same old lines’
they rub me wrong  and turn me off.

There is a time for everything
and youth can get away with much
but now you try the same old lines’
they rub me wrong  and turn me off.
but now you try the same old lines’
they rub me wrong and turn me off.

I’d like to think somehow you grew
and with the years could change your game
but now with almost eighty years under your belt
You’re stuck in Time, thinking you’re the same.

You don’t wear it well old friend
you don’t wear it well
40 years before, you could strut it
not anymore: you don’t wear it well.

I’m not against love in later life
but love is one thing and this feels a lie
Let’s just hold hands and reminisce,
without your fingers wandering up my thigh.

The alarms go off inside my head
if you reach in to grab a kiss,
a kiss I am not willing to give you
you’re taking me down in a hand -basket,  not into bliss.

Because, you don’t wear it well old friend
you don’t wear it well
40 years before, it fit you

not anymore: you don’t wear it well……..

Nothing worse than unrequited love, especially when you’re the one rejecting someone. But it happens. Great poem 💕

Oh Ruca! I am so smiling right now! This poem is so spot on! Those old codgers never learn. They need reminding. And you are the messenger!

On a more serious note, it’s good to set boundaries. You deserve to feel respected and comfortable.

“you’re taking me down in a hand -basket, not into bliss.”
I know these lines well and love the repeat and the touché or is it topee .. lol.
I hate to say this but this is my father to this day in all his pain… the vanity is his game, sadly.
The ego can’t let go sometimes and wisdom ain’t part of that. xo 💕

    • Awww thank you thank you
(bows deeply from the waist) so glad you liked how it all sort of came together. Sorry to hear that you have a dad who hasn’t grown old gracefully yet..(probably never…especially if he was handsome all his life and a bit of a lady’s man hehe) Yes the ego does not accept getting old..luckily mine. lost a long time ago haha and totally has adjusted:) Big hugs nice to be back 🤗

  12. LOL! I know just what you’re talking about! My hunchbacked stepmother, in her eighties, thought she was still hot stuff and strutted around like she was 20 years old! Not a pretty sight at all. And she was always berating my equally-aged father for not being able to get it up. It was pathetic and cruel.

    • Oh boy..a female version..Awww that’s a bit hard to witness too, I’m sure you suffered. Lucky I am not worried this will happen to me in a few years.. I definitely feel the passage of time in both good and realistic ways:) Let youth have their youth, I enjoyed mine too, completely, when I was young. Glad you found this theme relatable…there must be so many versions of this repeating phenomena out there… Thank you for the comment and glad you enjoyed it Dawn….
