Desire is just one room in a mansion
and it can end in the bedroom or in a luxurious waiting room,
years, waiting, hoping, dreaming,
or in tears.
Its face changes when it realizes,
it will never realize what it wants.
No longer immaculate, it breaks down, unkempt and unloved,
the rusty gates inviting everyone to stay out.
What was once a thriving mansion is now just an arbor of sour grapes.
Hope has succumbed into the mulch of the past,
desire tastes like bitter leaves; the mansion implodes in envy and self pity,
just one room gone astray, is enough to unbalance……
Everything.
It could have been a night of passion, half eaten fruits sweet and scattered over the floor, a telling of the urgency, abandonment to the moment when nothing mattered more.
And yet…
From the inside out, this beautiful house with the potential
to welcome the angels and the devils,
collapses in on itself; just because… desire lives there no more.

How wonderful to capture desire as the seed of growth, creativity, and imagination. Often, I think, desire is associated with negative attributes, and, indeed, if we are never satisfied, this may be an issue, yet what is not as often thought about is how desire, a natural and gifted human attribute, is the seed for magical possibilities. A gorgeous recitation. It’s always wonderful to listen to your recitals. Happy weekend, Karima. 🤗❤️🌹

Lovely and VERY poignant. Even when it feels like this, as it certainly can, I think there’s always hope. Of something wonderful, even if perhaps not exactly what desire thinks it desires. 🙂

it is true in my experience as well that desire is the engine of activity. when focussed constructively & positively, it can work wonders. but first most of us must learn the raw power of wanting something intensely. there is where we learn discrimination!🙏🏼eventually we learn to use desire wisely & unselfishly, but theres many a lively story hidden in that process over time as we learn through cause & effect.🤪your poem about the mansion of sour grapes showcases one arc of training that desire offers.🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼 there are so very many🌹🔥🌹thanks, Karima🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼

Smiling big.. so very true.. this is just one story of a million full of pitfalls and enlightenment… dangers and hysterical outcomes, but if desire is the first cousin of passion… a house with neither, is a dull house indeed❤️

Such a captivating piece…beautifully written & voiced…this desire and that desire…we give the different shades to desire…coz it very much depends on the dance between what we desire & where it comes from…that’s why desire is both magical & destructive…Karima, I love this piece of yours…and lovely to listen to your words in your beautiful & powerful voice ✨🤗❤️

Ohhh thank you so much my kind friend … this one just came on its own..very unexpectedly…muse chose the subject.. to my surprise:):) Yes the subject as Joy points out and you do too, is many faceted..desire can bring positive outcomes., but also negative..and in the end..we do have the power to decide …always:) So pleased you liked the recording…I will tell you about that little piano music after I post about my new world…there is a connection:) A little bird told me you also have a new post today…. I’m on my way:):) ❤️

Karima ~ your voice gives me chills. Did you produce the background music in addition to the haunting poetry?

Aww thank you David….🙏 This music is actually a simple piano version of a song I use on my new virtual world.. If you play the video in that post about The Snake, you will hear it in its glorious fullness. Lana Lubnany sings beautifully in English and Arabic and the melody haunted me,.. Play the short 1 min video on my layest AI post and you will see:)

Karima your voice transports us to someplace magical. I absolutely love the picture your use and the words you choose. One thing runs so true when you just relax and listen to you reciting this beautiful piece with the haunting piano (which by the way – so perfect) is that it is indeed all the emotions, love and passion that makes a home an amazing castle not the wood or lavish things purchased and placed inside. No, it is the love of another, and the other person in that home with you that makes wood and nails a castle. Love the way you orchestrated this piece Karima.
Sending you big hugs, and many blessings always, Love Joni
