Bluest Blues

Time and time again I gave you the ultimatum
to not come around me any more.
I said,
“Just leave me alone, in my small dark corner of the world,
I don’t need to remember you, I don’t need to cry again today.”
Stop this flood of imagery, that sweeps me out of sleep
and stands me up in the curtained window trying to pray.
Because, what once walked away better stay away.
The wave you waved behind, like I’ll see you around sometime
still haunts my nights and days.

The bluest Blues was what you left behind for me to find.
It got painted on my walls, dressed me in its darkest shades
so deep and made me think of the ocean
where one can go to eternally sleep.
If I knew you had plans to return, I wonder what I’d do?
Probably not even believe you…
Probably just cover my ears and walk far away from you.

Do you have any idea how the daylight looks now to me?
The baddest blue hues are swaying off all the clouds and trees
and not you or anyone prepared me for what I would finally see,
The blood of my broken heart, now the bluest blue painting everything
wildly in abstract zig zag paths,
running down the front of me… the saddest bath.

Because, what once walked away better stay away,
The wave you waved behind, like I’ll see you around sometime
when you knew you’d never see me again,
still haunts my nights and days.
Take your Blues away from me, don’t send me messages
of please forgive me, in your plaintive riffs, your crying guitar
just it let be…and take all the shades of blue away with you.
Don’t try to talk me into anything,
just because I can’t stop listening to your music on a loop..
It’s over, it’s gone,
leave it lie where it fell into the Truth ……bluest Blues,

*Footnote: DD’s music is a muse for me. I was not planning on writing anything today…and
then I heard this track…..
My wild birds outside volunteered to sing back ups at a few strategic points and I said, “Sure” because they were in the right key:)

Karima you have done it again! The way you painted this piece in color and emotion just made for a magical read. You truly took the reader into all those little feelings, and even though sometimes sad it was comforting to read such deep/authentic emotion. I LOVE the specificity in your lines, it was like reading bits of your heart perfectly scattered through every stanza. The recitation was AMAZINGLY done as well, you have such a knack for that 🙌🏻. Thank you for this stunning piece, I am (as always) inspired by you 🤍🤗🤍

    • Awww thank you so much for listening and really listening Grace!! I love all the little details you come up with…and make me more aware of what I had written down. For me, writing to an amazingly emotional Blues piece like this..puts me in a trance and the words just spill out all at once..all over the page. Later I go back and try to order it into lines and verses, but many times, it just stays, a channeled free-style of poetry…. Thank you for you kind words on my recitation..I used to be more hesitant, but people like you:) have inspired me to do more spoken words..Thank you from the bottom of my heart and just know that…you too inspire me:) 🌹❤️🙏

I LOVE that free-channeling you describe…I’ve always got that feeling from your pieces. You have a magical way with that freedom, my friend 🤍. Always a treat to read you…I mean every word 🤗🤗🤗

Woooooooooooooot! That rocks extremely hard. 🙂 You are on such a roll lately, it’s astounding. This has some of the energy of Syncopated Life, but with a completely different, I guess, rhythm, pacing, flavor. So perfect with the music, and the feels behind it all. (And honored yet again to have my image sitting there being a visual for it; so gratifying!)

    • Wow WP just ate up my very thoughtful comment:) Oh well.. I was just saying how I love to see you so excited about my poetry, and also to remind you that “my rolls” are always triggered by outside forces…a great image or some irresistible music (like today with D’s Blues) In the end I feel my role is stenographer, and writing poetry is really like dreaming..unless you are a rare lucid dreamer..you have no idea what you are filming(or writing) until you actually are in the dream ( or read the channeled poem) Thank you for your opening superlative too!!

What a beautiful recital of a piece soaked in colours and emotions! The way you go into minute details gives credence to your feelings. Though you write in free verses, the rhythm is quite palpable in your poems. Well penned, Karima, as always 👍💐❤️🙏

    • Thank you so much Kaushal and so glad you liked the spoken word part too. It’s true, sometimes, I write in free verse and this is a combination of that but using incidental rhyme. Not everything rhymes that you might expect…but some endings do, which brings out the rhythm in it more. 🙏🌹🦋🌈🙏

KARIMA, mi amiga, your beautiful poetry and your voice haunt me as only a charming Bruha could. Your haunting voice and poetry touch me as only a kindred soul should, or would. We may never meet in this life Karima. In my soul I know that it is better to know you from afar, than to never know you at all. I will take you as you are, whoever you are, whenever we are. I do not need to see you to love you from afar and even never is close enough for me.

    • What a charming and delightful comment and I agree we can know much about each other from these WordPress exchanges. Seriously, thank you, Marc, for being so supportive and fun too. I am happy to call you mi amigo. I don’t think I am so “bruja” but you make me think I am not such a bad poet:):) Thank you for everything…Your friend, Karima🌹

    • Thank you so much David,,,Yes when we “sing the blues” it’s not our highest moment, but if we can salvage it by converting it to art of some kind (or a lesson leaned)..it makes it not such a loss in the end.
