Charismatic Magic

Where did you leave your charismatic magic
when you decided to get old?
Did you stuff it in a second hand bin
while you changed into some snarky clothes?
and that’s the problem…you don’t care
You keep looking for your magic where it’s not there.

Now you don’t even trip the light fantastic
You’re asleep in front of the TV’s bluish glare.
Before the moon can crawl over the horizon
you put your self away until the light of day…
and that’s the problem…you don’t even care
You keep looking for your magic every wrong where.

What happened to your impossible dreams
just because your hair turned to snow-white ?
Did you give up that trip of a lifetime you were gonna take
just because the seven dwarfs came to you one night?
and that’s the problem…you don’t  even care
and you’ll never find your magic, looking there!

Grab a hold of yourself, I’m asking you real polite,
because the magic you always had, well it’s still inside.
Shake yourself out of the Sleeping Dream state tonight
and wake up; skip out your door, dance a tango outside.

And repeat after me
I still got my charismatic magic, it’s just hidden away inside
I can feel the magic waking up, It’s yelling, ” I’m not dead; I’m still alive!”
Reach in right now and hug it tight, it’ll  stay with you, if you keep it in your sight.
Repeat after me..my charismatic magic is always here; it never went anywhere……..

Woot, you are on fire lately! 😀 This track and these words, your voice (and, I say proudly again, my humorous cautious old man there), make such a terrific whole. Yet again!

    • DD’s fantastic Blues was the trigger this time. He has done it before and now today I was swept into this odd little place…and it felt good and fun and your image set the stage, Dale. Thank you so much. What a crazy ride when least expected:)

This is wild Karima. I love the way you unearth the knowledge that as we get older we do not get less creative, curious or want to find our dreams but we want them more than ever.

What a beautiful collaboration too. Beautifully done Karima.

Blessings, hugs and my love. 🦋🌹🤗❤️🌺🌷🌻

    • Awww thank you Joni…I’m still all giggles from this “wild ride” as you say. Oh you know I believe that and practice what I preach:):) I know so many here, that live and show us the fruits of their magic, that they know is still inside. I have had to wrangle with the idea myself…when we feel our muse went on vacation, we can panic…just a reminder we carry it with us. Loved your comment and your perception, much love to you my friend,❤️🤗🌹

Wow, what a powerful and inspiring poem! I can relate to the feeling of letting go of our dreams and magic as we age, but this poem reminds us that it is never too late to reignite that spark and chase after what we truly desire. The reminder to embrace our charisma and magic within is a powerful one, and the call to action to dance and embrace life is a message we all need to hear. Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece of writing.

    • Welcome Sebastián to my blog and thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with me on this poem. Yes, I believe this, try to practice it, but in ebbs of flow, I too speak to myself in this way:) Sometimes we have to be reminded. I am happy you related to what is says and hope you enjoyed my recitation and the music too. Nice to meet you:)

    • Hello Ritish and thank you for your very perceptive comment. I loved the adjectives you chose: playful and uplifting.:) Yes this is the message..this is within us and not age or other imagined constraints can take that away. Only our own doubts and fears can make us think, it has been lost. Thank you again for visiting my blog and leaving your generous comment.

Ah Karima, I’m with Dale…you are totally on fire lately!!!!! This piece is simply divine. I absolutely LOVE this message, our inner magic is always there and the loving/authoritative way you expressed that really connected with me. And let me take a moment to celebrate the mesmerizing rhyming you’ve got here, it just added this whole other layer of flow while reading/listening!!!! Another gem, my dear dear friend. You always ignite a piece of my inner magic, and thank you for sharing yours 🤍🤗🤍🤗

    • You have absolutely nothing to worry about talented Grace, your magic and charisma are totally visible in all your writings. Haha I did have a bit of tuff-love attitude in the beginning, but the truth is, I myself have been here so I wanted to put a little sugar coating on the bitter pill at the end, and remind people, if you ever had it…you still got it…connect to yourself and you will see it’s still there. and yes people, poetry, imagery, and music help me connect to mine. Honestly, I was not even thinking of writing yesterday and DD’s music, swept me directly to my keyboard heh he…and the poem was just waiting for me to write it down:) The beautiful dynamic in this community is the willingness to inspire each other, exchange thoughts and help us all be better writers….and people:) ❤️🌈🙏🦋

A very universal message to all young and old, and whatever where one’s interests lie. The magic never goes away. Sure, it may need naps now and then, but it requires a mutual effort between the magic and, err, magic-ee in order to flourish! Great work!

  13. I like the vibrancy of this one! It feels so fun and bright. And really enjoyed these lines: “Before the moon can crawl over the horizon / you put your self away until the light of day”. That’s some great imagery. This has a bit of a Carlos Santana feel. Excellent.

  16. This is a fabulous poem! People should not give up their dreams just because they rack up a few years. There is always hope. Dreams never die, they just get buried inside.
