Re-Cap Relay For Life-Art Faire-Ce Soir Arts-April 6th

Last Saturday I read for a good cause, RFL in SL at Ce Soir Arts, and today I post some of the pictures of that event, and also the recording of the reading.
The audience was not real large, but very warm and giving, and the event was enjoyed by all.
I want to thank Sanne Brune, Odracir Wrigglesworth, and Dale Innis for passing me these great photos.
Click on this link if you were unable to attend and would like to hear the entire reading.

The Possessive

I am

Yes, I am The Possessive

The Possessive
mia

Because you are so many different things
I can share some of you
with another few…
I can learn to return
to the law of the playground,
and break my cookie in three,

But you must know that some things
can’t be shared
or broken into parts.
A kaleidoscope looks enchanting
but it’s really broken glass
some details casually shared,
will break
and ink gets blurred;
it all gets smeared
Oh this is not a looking glass
it’s real and we could be the smashed.

Yes I am the possessive,
but my obsession
travels light,
a ballet dancer on point spinning like
a lighthouse in your night
All I want to do is fall in deep.
I am that bit inside that calls to you
from down a tunnel in your dreams.
I see what’s fallen to the bottom,
and bring it up for us to play and see.
I coax and order, I stomp and croon
Looking down upon your crown
Is where I feel I’m me.

A script that’s being written
and the ink
is never dry,
a courageous choice,
a foolish step,
I am all of that.
So I will share some parts of you
with the worthy and the true,
I will be a generous giver,
humble teacher, flowing river,
but I will be a storm for disrespect
the coldest wind that blows along your shore.

Your protector and possessor,
is love not a crazy state?
It’s full of prancing folly picking up its’ feet
and makes us slaves and owners
and who knows who is in charge?
It’s hard to rip out a brand new rib,
that will be served on someone else’s plate.
Yet love, will makes us offer- up and donate.

I am the possessive, like a song that takes you over
I’m a subtle jail of memories, the door wide open.

Karima Joins SL Music Races for a Cure-Art Faire and Auction Benefitting RFL in SL- Sat. April 6th 12pm slt

hgf

The Conservatory for The Art Faire at Ce Soir Arts

Just a note in a symphony, a poet in solidarity, I will perform as part of the most amazing Relay for Life SL Team ever, “SL Music Races for A Cure” headed and directed by our hard working, music lover and supporter and baton-tapping Director, Still Braveheart. Still has worked night and day for months organizing all her artistically inclined volunteers, for the sole purpose of raising funds for RFL in SL. I am honored that I could join this illustrious group of performers and give an hour to the cause, that as many know, is very dear and near to my heart, see “My Gliding Beauty 1971-2012”
Mireille and Aeon Jenevive Woodward, owners of Ce Soir Arts, one of my very favorite venues where I perform, have created a beautiful location where live musicians and poets will be performing, at their Conservatory while a wonderful Silent Art Auction is going on. Thank you Mireille and Aeon for your hard work and dedication to this team.

A special venue for the occasion at Ce Soir Arts

There will be a Silent Art Auction you can bid on, and Russel Eponym, one of the best loved and popular poets will perform after me at 1:30pm. All proceeds, tips and donations will go to RFL.
I hope to see you all there this Saturday at 12 noon slt.

My poem is like my lover…

My poem

My poem is like my lover…

My poem is like my lover…

My poem is like my lover
locked in a back room.
How can I leave it dangling,
in such a state?

Nothing can be more important
than to ride it to a finish.

This gnawing image of my lover,
sighing for my return

makes me drop everything else,
cut conversations short,
put the dog’s walk on hold,
and be moved by its undeniable need,
its passion to be relieved only by me.

Who else could step in at this point?
Who would know the strokes,
the subtle
flowing back and forth?
No one else can dance our dance.
If you don’t believe me, then just try.
Your words would be impostors,
posing as the lover,
and my poem
although in agony,
would know you’re not the one.

I hear my poem calling me,
“Come back to bed, I need you”
So now, I have to go,
and running to our bedroom,
shout,

“I’m coming……”

Drone

No pilot...no blame..

No pilot…no blame..

Sometimes, less is more. The less said, the more we can draw our own conclusions.
For about a month, I was feeling like I had a “biggish poem” inside. That means to me personally, that I might be taking a poetic stand on something, which I do rarely, but sometimes I feel I just have to. I had no idea what it might even be about, and even when this poem, and the music (the music came first) were being born, I still was not sure this was it…but now I think it might be.
I give you “Drone,” with the apology, that I am sorry the world is such a mess, that I even had to consider writing it. As I said in Blur, this is one of many variations, of too many verified incidents, and sadly no one can say this never happens…or is not happening now. I do invite you to listen to it, as the sound track plays an integral part. It is a performance, piece, and I will perform it at my next reading April 6th at Ce Soir Arts.
The Picture was shot on my very pensive world of three layers on Kitely – Virtual Worlds on Demand called “Between The Profound and The Profane” Intrepid grid travelers can click on the name, and go in and immerse in a very bizarre build, captured  between two extremes. Just Click below to listen to the poem and my original musical composition that encouraged it.

Take A Chair…

Take a chair...

Take a chair… photo by DB Bailey, on his build “Redressing The Classics”

Take a Chair…

(For DB)

A chair is but a chair is but a chair.
Now you see it..
recline in it,
even if you move it
to another room
It’s still there.

When it sprouts arms,
and stretches,
changing hues
voicing deeper dreams
you realize
that you knew very little
about furniture…
and nothing about this chair.

Then it is invited to a room
where it feels comfortable,
grows up, not even knowing how.
It rocks an attitude
you had no idea could be there.

Yes,
you still can sit on it

after all it is a chair,
and yet in the hands of
a molding creator,
what power and beauty
transforming
from the plain and practical
To the magical
of
Art… Aware!

“Redressing The Classics” ~ DB Bailey Style ~ At Torell Nederland

"Wear The Classics in and on your head" DB showing us how it's done

“Wear The Classics in and on your head” DB showing us how it’s done

DB Bailey (David Denton Architect in RL) has a new build, a gallery that I am sure is changing as I speak, because for DB, nothing is ever finished, everything keeps, moving forward, changing, morphing, evolving. Like Life itself, his Art is always renewing, reshaping, and re-creating.
In his latest exhibition “Redressing The Classics” at Torell Nederland, I was the enthralled  witness to his process, once again, and contributed a few drops along the way too.

The first blueprints

Contemplating the first blueprints

It started off very blue, with blueprints, reminding me of such a far future-time, I wasn’t sure I could put it into words, but there was a runway, and a graceful Greek Temple strutting her stuff, thanks to scripter Dale Innis who gave her life. It is not every day we see a fashion show for Classic architecture, but DB decided to give us that day. I felt like a buyer very interested in acquiring the entire collection:)

“Parade and Shine! Dance! Prance! Eternity applauds and rejuvenates.”

Applause! Applause!

DB hung  a few of these quotes of mine around;impressions from immersing myself for long periods of time in this mad burst of creativity.

Friday March 1st was the opening

Friday March 1st was the opening

So, with Friday being the opening, DB of course decided to change everything Thursday night, giving the “finishing” touches Friday morning. I suggested to him that it might be better if he were banned from coming in, until the hour of the opening, as it had morphed into something else, yet very worth saving (at least a few hours)
He had been looking at Angelyne Billboards the night before, and went all Hollywood pink, and 60’s bright, building in Ultra settings with shadows, it was absolutely gorgeous!

“Classic is not stagnant but a fluid, changing peak for all new dreamers to climb.”

I want to congratulate DB on his, once again unique build and concept, and give a big thanks and hugs too, to JanFolkert and Ellenilli owners of Torell Nederland, who invited him to build on their beautiful sim for the Arts.
Come visit soon, and stop by Poetry House, to see some of my poems showcased there along with JanFolkert’s.
Welcome to the neighborhood DB!!

Karima Performs@Circe’s New Poet’s Sanctuary ~ Saturday~ Feb. 23rd 11:30 amslt

“Ohhh, another new venue for me,”she says excitedly!… and not only that, but a chance to read my poetry back to back with my gifted friend and fellow poet, Luna Branwen. What more could I wish for this coming Saturday at 11:30 amslt?
For me, who has been a sort of aloof- to- her -own -drum- beat poet  for the past four years, the invitation to read here, was a great honor, as Circe’s is the poet’s poetry place.

Circe's New Poet's Sanctuary

Circe’s New Poet’s Sanctuary

When Serene Bechir invited me, I didn’t pause a second, before I said “Yes!”
I quote her notes about this wonderful and magical place to hear some of the best poetry in SL.

“Up on the hill, overlooking New Brighton, strange things are going on!  In a grove of mushrooms, in front of a waterfall, people are gathering to listen to poetry being read in voice chat or sometimes on stream.

Originally the creation of SL music scene legend Circe Broom, this venue was specifically built for spoken word events and was first located on Laurel Arts Isle. When that sim closed a copy of the venue was preserved here at New Brighton thanks to the efforts of Leslye Writer, Stosh Quartz and land owner and builder Bernard Herzog.

Circe Broom passed away  on Nov. 30,  2012 but her legacy to poetry lives on at Circe’s New Poet’s  Sanctuary in New Brighton as those she encouraged continue bringing people together to appreciate and practice the art of spoken word.”

Here is the line-up for the whole day, and Luna and I will do between 30 and 45 minutes each to kick it off. I invite you all to come, find a mushroom, and enjoy our poetry. I will be streaming, and Luna in voice, both of us wearing our hearts on our sleeves and in our words:)
Oh and I wrote a little musical piece to my latest madness called “Sangfroid Sea” and will be performing it for the first time there.

Saturday Feb. 23rd lineup  (event is in voice chat unless otherwise noted)

11:30amst -12:15pmalt Karima Hoisan  (on stream)
   12:15pmslt-1:pmslt Luna Branwen

     break

   4:00pm Grail Arnica
   5:00pm  Julie Juliesse
   6:00pm Rosedrop Rust

Here is your swift and direct transport to the Sanctuary: Circe’s New Poet’s Sanctuary
Hope to see you there, Saturday Feb. 23rd… I begin at exactly 11:30 amslt!… so come a little early to reserve a choice mushroom:)

Sangfroid Sea

Angry Sea by Malana Claringbould

Angry Sea by Malana Claringbould

Click on this .mp3 link, Sangfroid Sea at Circe’s.mp3 to hear me recite it live to original music at Circe’s New Poet’s Sanctuary Feb.23rd.

Sangfroid Sea

It Roars…a flash flood of blood
A stomp, two stomps,  blue-black clouds wrenching in a storm
A gale force of pounding, breakers breaking
sounding,
armies of horse- backed riders, no remorse

all the planes crash landing
barbed wire strung across the gate.
land mines like strings of firecrackers

kaboom ‘n pump kaboom

Whispers,
“Appease me with your willingness

plant flowers in the muddy puddle
make a trellis of blue morning glories
each barb will let a flower climb
each flower will soothe an angry mind
bend over backwards until you are a flag
that twists and dances to a brutal gale
then take a photo, make a memory of me,
uprooting trees and churned up seas.”

That wicked passion makes the blood collide
sucks up the Moon and drains the Tides..
I tried to pack,
I threw my suitcase to the waves,
but left my heart behind.
So hard to lay alone upon the shore

when it all keeps
pumping pumping pumping
so hard to smooth the jagged sharp
the broiling surf abyss,
cloud banks are robbed
and rolling in…

kaboom ‘n pump kaboom

Its almost like a dose of saintly sanity,
to feel this madness striking sparks,
and thoughts are flints and all begins to
make them strike upon a heart turned stone
upon a heart going cold,
the fire grows fed by the blood of Empires
that flammable respect that bursts and roars
Again!

Again!

kaboom ‘n pump kaboom

No tears tonight that turn an ocean silvery light
no little drops of perfect, in the messed-up harmony
Crashing o’er a trellis pedaling flowers to the sky
although withered still with life. It’s still with life!
only,
pounded, battered and stared down,
by a monstrous sangfroid sea.
