The Grandfather Clock

It was the tapping of the pane, that rhythmic insistence
that put me on my feet…
leering & giggling, the full moon peeking out from the clouds,
making all sorts of fun of me.

Tooling out my door, on the stroke of midnight,
the clock face, hands straight up to the sky.
I went skipping through the foggy black clouds on the sidewalk, having no idea why.
The tick n tock of the grandfather clock,
hiding in the corner in the shadow of the lock,
made it hard to resist for this girl,
going out for a midnight walk.

I was getting sucked right up in the haunted valley,
of those uncommon airways.
Shivers of wonder, what-am-I doing? started to fill my mind.
I had just woken up and all a sudden, the world was opening… a big fat door;
maybe I got caught up in Life’s persistent thrumming
taking a chance, heading straight out into
some unknown shore.
This could be just a crazy dream,
that thought did cross my mind;
my steps got lighter; when the leaves of the trees
were spinning…
the streets below my feet were solid and drumming,
then I was carried away upwind on a gentle blast incoming.
`dreamwalker_by_samantha_goss

Oh, this will be an adventure and a lesson in surrender,

closing my eyes, the swirls painting ahead my way.
Blowing through the corridors, in time to the grandfather clock,
letting it take me along, with no resistance, just getting out of the way.
Torn t-shirts and oh so polite. I met these entities out in the black inked night…
Everyone had an idea about, where everyone else should be.
I was just on a midnight walk,  that wasn’t my idea, just my destiny…
If I was being abducted by aliens…well it seemed all right to me.

A Laid-Back Rock ‘n Roll Sunday

881345

It’s such a laid-back rock ’n roll Sunday…
The sun took it’s mellow yellow time to come up.
It’s not a day to make any strenuous plans
More like… find a field of flowers and fall right in.

Bring your music, bring your guitar and some friends…
If the beat is built inside of you, you might just dance
Or you might try to contemplate the color of Spring’s sky
You could stay all day in this herbal way, incense on high.

Don’t you just love days like this..so far and few between?
Doing nothing at all, simply being and living your dream ?
As soon as I spied the break of day, I said, “ My oh my”
It’s going to be a sun-day, so feast your eyes on pie in the sky.

And when the shadows grow long, turning the bright a little down…
It’s time to say goodbye; memories for sure were made and will stay
Every blade of grass, is like a photograph, engraved upon my lids
Wish I could just grab your hand, run you to that field…
whenever we needed to, whenever we could…and fall right in,

An Illustrious Early Morning Visitor

WhatsApp Image 2022-05-31 at 5.06.11 PM

Good Morning!!

Look who came for breakfast yesterday!!
A Two-Toed Tree Sloth Climbed in To Say “Hi”

Weighing in at about 20 pound, usually staying in the tops
of the trees, he climbed down for a quick visit, before he went back
to his natural habitat:)

A very rare appearance in our backyard! We are more used to seeing the 5-clawed
Indoor Albino Rug Sloth in our Home:):)

Go With The Flow

WhatsApp Image 2022-05-23 at 9.12.07 PM

AI Art programmed by Dale Innis “Go With The Flow”

Please listen to the poem recorded to the haunting music of Leonard Cohen’s,”Tacoma Trailer”

Go With The Flow

Riding our Orcle,
in the open sea,
the surf sliding down
behind us.
We get a rhythmic
push and swoosh,
below the crocheted hull.
The moment lulled…
my mind dulled,
I have no wants…
I fear no fears.
We rock side to side,
my legs cling tight
as we bob up and down.
I smile at the horizon faraway.
My red hair is reflected, in the water below….
I go with the flow.

Orcle is blinded by his knitted cap.
My Captain-Oh Captain dropped the reins
a few waves back.
He never gained his sea legs,
his lower limbs just disappeared
into his blue tube pants.
He’s a side-saddler,
just another passenger.

The heaving rollers,
rolling us far from shore…
or from where we thought
we were.

Captain Oh Captain is also blind,
Riveted into his helmet.
No escape or penetrate

for either air nor light.
His eyelids are closed…..
What’s the difference anyway?
I sit behind and trust my fate.
Tell me,
what else is left to do or know?
I go with the flow.

Sometimes they have their own ideas:) and we must redefine
our expectations:)

Errands To Be Run

12571982_img-5799

Now..
Mondays are not the kindest day of the week..
They can hold me accountable
for the entire weekend.
On Mondays..I’ve been known
to let my mind take flight
out of the nearest window;
it whooshes as it rushes
far from my desk and into the past.
It only flies in one direction..
backwards until it meets up
with you- know-who again…..
with you again.

I maintain a glass-eyed look
on my face, deeply focused
deeply working,
but really far far away,
from recessed lighting
and printers whirring.
When I shoot back into the past,
it is also daylight,
but natural, sun playing with clouds,
you playing with my scarf,
fixing unruly strands of hair peeking out
as we climb,
those steep cobblestone streets,
that once were ours to walk.
The town was ours and Mondays were
our sacred days… the very best.
For you would knock upon my door and say,
“Come on..there are errands to be run.”

Was work ever any sweeter..
than walking from store to store?
Dropping off and picking up…
hand and hand, everything striking us funny?
I loved you..how I loved every minute spent by your side.
I loved teasing you,
being teased by you,
laughing until we both were crying..
gasping to catch our breath.
The air was lighter, the shadows brighter,
your open-mouth laugh,
with your head thrown back..
I kissed you on your cheek,
and squeezed your hand to say,
“I love you” in every language I knew.

Now,
you come back to me, any night or any day,
you pull my head into the long ago, the no longer real,
the no longer possible.
Stamping your foot a little impatiently..
waiting in my open door,
Your beautiful coal black eyes, anime -size,
the smell of perfumed oils from Dubai,
incense embroidered in your clothes,
Your beautifully playful soft wry smile
“Come on, get your scarf on…. there are errands to be run.”

My Poem, “UP” on Masticadores USA

Hi everyone…I’m back!!
While I was on vacation and a bit disconnected from my blog, I had the wonderful surprise of finding
my poem, “UP” published on Masticdores USA.
I want to thank Gabriela Marie Milton for selecting it and I am eternally grateful to her and all involved on this prestigious website.
The image, I took on my virtual world, “The Wizard”

UP!
Let me rise away
Higher than the atmosphere,
The conic dome of black-arched stratosphere,
I leave it all behind
And up I rise and rise……
