Charismatic Magic

Where did you leave your charismatic magic
when you decided to get old?
Did you stuff it in a second hand bin
while you changed into some snarky clothes?
and that’s the problem…you don’t care
You keep looking for your magic where it’s not there.

Now you don’t even trip the light fantastic
You’re asleep in front of the TV’s bluish glare.
Before the moon can crawl over the horizon
you put your self away until the light of day…
and that’s the problem…you don’t even care
You keep looking for your magic every wrong where.

What happened to your impossible dreams
just because your hair turned to snow-white ?
Did you give up that trip of a lifetime you were gonna take
just because the seven dwarfs came to you one night?
and that’s the problem…you don’t  even care
and you’ll never find your magic, looking there!

Grab a hold of yourself, I’m asking you real polite,
because the magic you always had, well it’s still inside.
Shake yourself out of the Sleeping Dream state tonight
and wake up; skip out your door, dance a tango outside.

And repeat after me
I still got my charismatic magic, it’s just hidden away inside
I can feel the magic waking up, It’s yelling, ” I’m not dead; I’m still alive!”
Reach in right now and hug it tight, it’ll  stay with you, if you keep it in your sight.
Repeat after me..my charismatic magic is always here; it never went anywhere……..

Dinner For Two

Dinner For Two
for D.

Maybe it is not my place to feel what I am feeling,
to twist and stretch a little room where nothing does nor can exist
into a banquet hall  of fantasy.
Soul-mates out to dine on just each others’ artsy passions, and obsessions,
that make their eyes glow bright gazing over candlelight,
that makes the Time lie still and wait like silver placed next to their plates,
to be picked up and then put down while color is served in twelve  ascending courses, and waiters are flowing and never cease changing
the table decorations and decor.

I know it is a lot to ask,
that Time rewrite  the scripts already served and eaten in the past,
the sickness and the crippling, the waning and the laming,
the unrecoverable damaged goods left at both our doors.
But I have fought for what my heart decries,
and I have had the patience of a mounted saint,
standing still upon her steed, now poised,
ready to storm the gates of propriety and go beyond all logic
and all reason,
there is a time to act for every season,
and I see winter comes upon us so voraciously.
It’s love that bursts inside my chambers, and makes my heart grow larger
than it’s supposed to grow,
 It’s love that makes me throw all caution out the door,
and standing now on top the tablecloth,
I am the centerpiece of it,
I am the crystal flower bowl of  Love.
I am the foolish girl who loves beyond her reach,
who loves the brilliant and the futile,
who loves with depth,
and who loves you,
and all your Art that she can eat.

Footnote. This was done more than 11 years ago. The Artist in the poem, influenced my
poetry and my video making in amazing ways. I was captivated by his brilliant use of colors.
I even learned to love the color orange, I had never appreciated before. I never told him that I had fallen in love with his mind, his talent, but he was in the audience, the day I recited this poem:)

I Eat Color And It Makes Me Dance

I eat color and it makes me dance.
It flows into my open mouth like ribbons of sweet candy
and flavors me to close my eyes.
I see food where you see light beams, I reach out and taste them
with my lips and my eyes roll up into my mind
and I smile while color drips down my chin.
I can’t help myself, this is how it’s always been.
I eat color and it nibbles tenderly back on me and bathes my face.
I will be obese on pale steel blue served to me on orange plates
to savor with silverware of iridescent emerald spoons.
My tongue feels drops of red that turn to pink that turn to dance and then…
I turn around and there is a plié and I am executing it.
I throw back my head and raise my arms and all the colors wash over my eyes,
my nose is being courted by pale off-white whiffs, that mix with orange making peaches and cream and fantasy dreams, and I swallow it excitedly, then….
I dance**~~~~ and
I dance**~~~~ and
I dance!

Rainbow

Rainbow
inspired by the painting “Crew Abstract”

There was a time when Rainbows wished to cast themselves out to sea,
instead of meeting waves on the bend of horizons.

The blues of the deep called to their inner prisms and they longed to reflect off the moving mirrors of azure and turquoise what was in their deepest tones.

They waited in their rainbow shelters, tucked high away out of sight. They could only watch the slow tides coming in bringing them hope, and the waning tides bidding them farewell.

Day after day, they saw the ceaseless movement below them, the going out and the coming in but found no way to touch down and feel the foam, pour their colors out over the crystalline

palette of aqueous canvas, merging every shade it possessed until the sea ignited and truly felt what it was possible to feel, the touch of the Sky’s most colorful Angel, a Rainbow in glow

Humans, but only some, are just a notch below the Angels..
The rainbow saw a crew of flying figures practicing something new.

Waiting patiently, a rosy tinted virtue, it observed from behind clouds, the little group striving for perfection, diving in the sunlight, trying to duplicate the very colors and arch the Rainbow had always possessed, since before Time was counted.

Rainbows are known to smile if the sunlight hits them just right, and this one did, as it waited for the conditions needed to begin its purposeful descending flight.

All it hoped for, was one small cloud, to rain down the finest mist, the sunshine and the Rainbow nature would be enough to bathe them all in bliss.

The Crew took flight, the Rainbow counted seconds of descent, and when their colorful shoots opened and began to form the magical arc of this unique alliance, The rainbow let go bathing the descending humans in the most colorful glorious glow.

Clinging to them in warm rays of purest essence
It whispered to each gliding Human in a plea

“Will you take me with you until we touch the sea.?”

My Ever-Present Mother

Your flame burns bright; it won’t go out
because I will not let it…
You are so alive inside of me
even in my sleep you invade my dreams

Things that make up me came from you,
from the cellular to our sense of humor,
we are bound and tied.
Although your face dims in my twilight
I can still hear your voice inside

Christmas Day was an unusual date
chosen for you to leave our stage,
while neighbors were unwrapping their gifts
you were unwrapping yourself
until…. Voilá you disengaged.

I never will forget the shock of knowing
that you had left on that joyous morn
but life no longer held your interest
your heart was failing;
you dreamed of being reborn.

Thank you for giving me my life,
giving me a bit of the rebel you…
your easy laugh, oh how you loved to laugh!
Your loyalty, your natural generosity,
I’m your daughter for eternity, and you
the eternal flame, my ever-present mother.

Dreaming Humanity

In our world of fast morphing hours,
shapelessness is only a transition into being,
the first molding of a glorious possibility.

Look deep into Design and see,
everything slowly becoming something else,
in this never-quite-focused Human dream.

The created, cast in the Mastermind’s own reflection,
peer back through the mist of thick impenetrable transcendence
wondering if something or someone is out there
and why they are now standing here?

Soon they will multiply, re-multiply,
always wondering why?
Their smooth new textures drying,
as they peer through their opaque history.
While looking forward,
they feel more comfortable holding back.
They wait for something to be revealed,
a secret unsealed by the One who shaped them
and soon to be setting them into motion.

They stand in the portal, waiting to be born,
to descend full of Human error and compassion,
one of the greatest works of Art the Artist dreams
over and over again:

a vulnerable child,

an imperfect woman,

a frail and fallible man.

We are like you with hopes and dreams
In suits, kaftans, or designer jeans
Uneasy about our future, our security
Oh my, look who just moved in next door!!

We try to eat right, keep the doctor at bay
Send our kids to the best schools of the day
Our lawns are clipped, in the esthetic way
Oh my, look who just moved in next door!!

Our faces don’t reveal what lies deep inside
We are polite and if not welcoming, at least civilized.
We can give you a full list of all that’s despised
Oh my, look who just moved in next door!

We probably should go and meet them soon
Bring them some baked goods, try to commune
But we are not sure they could be truly in-tune
Oh well, they have just moved in next door!!

Underair Creatures

Happy New Years to you all from the….
Underair Creatures

We are underair creatures.
We float and sway to currents
you can’t see,
but you see how we grab them
to spin and bob and effortlessly fly.

You are bottom creatures
heavy and will not know our joy;
you are also underair, but feed on the bottom
move ungracefully, stay very stationary
for long periods of time.

Look up and see what we show you!
On what is invisible to your eyes,
we cavort and fly.
We twist and hover, drift and soar
We too love the air but on what you breathe
to keep you alive
light and freewheeling, we were born to ride.

Golden

Touched by Midas, he sold his crypto just in time
bought a factory with his profit and made the workers go offline.
In the empty lot he sells potted plants, frosted with organic dye,
decorated with little sun-charged led -lights; they go like hot cakes,
easy on the eye and environment; golden coins rain on him from the sky.

So smooth and gold, everything he touches, begins to look like him.
He hides his eyes behind pastel shades so you can’t see, what you can guess.
If you try to speak to him with truth, don’t bother, it’s a wasted act,
The bottom line, that vibrates inside his mind, honestly he couldn’t care less.

A profile cut in granite stone, a chin to build a city on; he’s hard and cold.
Bouillon’s not a soup for him it’s what he buys to stack his assets all in gold
He never sweats, his golden sheen, glows in sun and moonlight equally
He’s never had a doubt about how he sees the world: it’s his to have and hold.

Perfect table manners, he can choose the flowers and the music, order wine.
The correct knot on a tie can catch his eye, he’s witty, worldly but never kind.
He has a backstage pass, front stage box-seats, first row of every balcony
He’s Golden. His heart’s not made of flesh & blood; it’s a 24 karat time piece.
